Here at the show, but not the greatest musical vantage point.

Nice show from Pioneer, they've definitely made some strides since Rockford and are developing a nice low/mid brass sound. Upper brass needs some more work. Drums have some good features in the 3rd movement but were guilty of overplaying at times. Guard isn't adding much to the show so far. They should leave the frames out of the show until they're fully built.

What are the black things for? They move them but dont ever use them.

When I saw them last weekend in Rockford, first thing that came to mind is eventually they will be covered up with some fabric with an image or something. Similar to what Cadets had last year.. just a thought..

I'm thinking (1) to cut down the field a bit as the Corps isn't as large as the others and (2) they might cover them in something later on in the season.

I have no idea, but just guessing.

Colts narrator really needs to work on making his laughter sound more believable.

Drill move of criss-crossing chevrons is nice. Dirty, but nice.

On a stage, sound designers generally work very hard when an actor is miced to ensure that the mix makes the sound match his location for distance and balance. You know how sometimes you see a movie where someone's [voice] seems a little to[o] loud or soft? That happens almost inevitably with drum corps narrators who move about the field. Very disconcerting.

Edited to call out my typos, which perc was kind enough not to mention. Ugh.
