No, you don't, it's total GE and has nothing to do with the sound. I can hear a difference between a trumpet and a flugel, and I can hear a difference between a french horn and a mellophone. They could pre-record everything, and then there wouldn't be any playing mistakes. Am I being facetious? Where's the line between possible and ridiculous?
