Jeff Ream
Looked at the DCI recap and they had no score??
N.E. Brigand
When Brandt Crocker announced the scores, he said they had appeared in Exhibition. I saw that it would be that way a few days ago somewhere, probably FromThePressbox. As to why, no idea. Edited July 27, 2014 by N.E. eric24
Alliance DC is from Atlanta and they weren't at the show. I can't figure that one out!!! Gold comes all the way from NC and only performs in exhibition, strange year for All-Age!!!
JoeDz
Both Gold and CV were introduced in the same manner. I saw at least one judge along sideline during Gold performance. Gold's performance certainly was well worthy of competition status. An enjoyable performance......
AtlantaCVMktg
It's a corps choice to decide to receive a number or "comments only" from the judging panel. There could be many reasons why they would choose that option.
camel lips
2009 MCL requested to perform in exhibition at the MTSU show in Tn because they felt parts of their show were not ready for public consumption so they adjusted some things for that performance so it would be more entertaining for the home crowd . They left out chunks of the drill and did some stand still mojo stuff that no doubt hurt them on the sheets. There apparently was some miscommunication somewhere and they wound up getting judged and got a really low score which haunted them the rest of the season. So I agree there could be many reason why a corps would choose to be judged exhibition only.
totaleefree
I think Alliance had not finished their show and needed the extra weekend of practice for their show. They were never listed as a participant so they did not cancel I think they just never planned on doing the show. It may be better in the long run to get an extra weekend of practice than to lose an entire day to present an incomplete show assessed by judges familiar with a different set of rules. In another thread someone from CV explains the positive things from doing the DCI show, exposure, chance to perform in the dome etc and the fact that it was broadcast on fan network. The Scores from the DCI judges while they may be helpful do no fully reflect DCA judging. I saw the Friday night scored show and the Exhibition from Gold on Sat and there was 100% improvement for the non scored show on Sat so maybe not being scored allowed the corps to relax and do a better job. They had come down for the Friday night show so they might as well stick around for the Sat show.
UNCGQ
As stated, it is completely up to the DCA corps as to whether they want to receive a score from a DCI panel that has been adapted to judge on the DCA sheets. Since this is the only read many of these judges will have on a DCA sheet, I'm sure many of them wouldn't feel 100% confident of their number, especially in relation to the other corps in the DCA circuit (which, other than Atlanta CV, they don't get to see) and at this point in the season (much more time to go in the DCA season than the DCI season). This has even been stated, in one form or another, at the beginning of tapes we've received at the DCI show in the past. The reasoning for asking to participate in the DCI Atlanta event has nothing to do with whatever number we might receive, so we wanted to remove that plate off the table of the adjudicators who are nice enough to provide us comments, and let them focus on the numbers for the million other DCI corps there that day. More people, who are within a tank full of gas of where we live, see us in that one show than will see us in the entire season of DCA events, and, combined with a read from a fresh panel, are the two reasons for wanting to perform for that show, and if there's any chance that they can give a better read by not having to spend any bandwidth on worrying about a number, we're all for it. -Larry Harper, Jr. Executive Director Carolina Gold
