jjeffeory
Maybe not soprano heavy. Bright. Definitely not akin to BD. They go for "dark" sounds by philosophy of their pyramid of sound. Cappybara
They go for a "dark" sounds by philosophy of their pyramid of sound. Exactly. I remember having a conversation about drum corps with my college band director a while ago and I remember him telling me that he doesn't like drum corps very much because all-brass ensembles sound very bright to him EXCEPT for Crown. He said he was shocked they could get the dark sound that they get without woodwinds in the ensemble.
SpenceriEuph
Colts - Bright and brimming with positive excitement. I mean... if a man killing his best friends, bragging about it and using their dismembered body parts to create an army of minions is what you call "brimming with positive excitement"... Tim K
Pioneer, Mandarins, Pacific Crest : I'm drawing a blank here... somebody want to help me out ? Pioneer perseverance with a family like atmosphere. Mandarins: true to their heritage, never afraid to be original. Pacific Crest: sometimes quirky, sometimes serious, always entertaining.

Anstig
I thought the OP said to stay positive. That's unfortunate. Though depending on ones angle it could be viewed as positive.
Phan_of_Drumming
They go for "dark" sounds by philosophy of their pyramid of sound. To me, the triple-tonguing feature from 2013 just screams bright to me. If I had to show a drum corps newbie one clip to get them accustomed to Carolina Crown's brass, that's what I would show. But, then, I'm a drummer, and not a drum corps drummer at that - just a fan. So I probably don't have the ear to say. I'm just going by what it sounds like to me. lindap
Hi Phan_of_Drumming. I didn't go to a show this year due to proximity (2,000 miles) but found a friend in Fan Network. Enjoyed live feed over the summer and took short notes. When I view FN I make one or two word comments on a piece of paper quickly so I don't miss a beat viewing. I didn't see all the corps on FN this summer and for that I apologize.
