MelloMatt
I saw a fantastic arrangement of the Adagietto this year in BOA. Lawrence Central really pulled that off well.
DrumManTx
Currently listening to Shostakovich's 11th Symphony......yes please. Movement 2 in particular. Intense stuff, in reference to the Russian Revolution in 1905 and that movement in particular to January 9th AKA Bloody Sunday. Very dramatic. N.E. Brigand
Currently listening to Shostakovich's 11th Symphony... yes please. As it happens, both Phantom Regiment and Reading Buccaneers played part of that symphony in last year's programs.
DrumManTx
As it happens, both Phantom Regiment and Reading Buccaneers played part of that symphony in last year's programs. I thought I recognized some of the fourth movement today, that must be it.
kdaddy
I would really love to see Phantom do a show with the finale from Sibelius 2. That lush string arrival is just begging to be turned in to an impact moment. There's some more good material in the first movement of Symphony 3, En Saga, The Tempest, Kullervo, and Nightride and Sunrise. And music (perhaps life itself) gets no better than Andante Festivo. DrumManTx
I already said it once, but I'd kill to hear somebody take on Symphonie Fantastique again. Listening to 85 Regiment right now. Loving it....... Edited March 1, 2014 by DrumManTx

It just seemed thrown in and lackluster to me. Especially in comparison to their phenomenal opener and ballad arrangements
N.E. Brigand
I already said it once, but I'd kill to hear somebody take on Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique again. Listening to '85 Regiment right now. Loving it... Showing my ignorance: I did not realize until just last week, when I noticed the theme from the last movement of Symphonie Fantastique was also prominent in Liszt's Totentanz, that both derive from the Gregorian Dies Irae chant. Possibly ironic given your choice of words!
N.E. Brigand
Currently listening to Shostakovich's Symphony No. 11... yes, please! As it happens, both Phantom Regiment and Reading Buccaneers played part of that symphony in last year's program. Am I the only one that was really disappointed with how they handled Shostakovich last year? It just seemed thrown in and lackluster to me. Are you referring to Rockford or Reading? thewsquared
Are you referring to Rockford or Reading? Rockford. I don't know, it just wasn't what I was hoping for when they announced that they were playing it
