perc2100
http://www.slashfilm.com/star-wars-the-force-awakens-trailer-music/ "However, we do know some of the people involved: Frederick Lloyd says he has contributed music to the latter half of the trailer, namely the “Force Theme,” while John Samuel Hanson of Confidential Music worked on the first half of the trailer music. Trailer editors Josh Dunn and Brent Rockswold helped complete the edit of the trailer you see before you. But we’ve heard there are others involved with both the edit and the music." Yeah John Williams definitely did not arrange the music in the trailer, however that's moot since the music for the most part is obviously an arrangement of his original SW themes (from "Han & the Princess" from ESB and "Force Theme" from ANH). One would still have to go through Williams' publishing company to get the rights (which I don't think they'd get, but I could be wrong). FWIW Williams DID compose the music especially for the trailer that dropped at Star Wars Celebration: Anaheim in April (the 'Chewie: we're home' trailer). He recorded the music the weekend before it debuted
N.E. Brigand
It's amusing that Gustavo Dudamel, the music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Simon Bolivar Symphony (I believe that Michael Boo once linked here to a video of Dudamel conducting the latter), is credited as guest conductor for The Force Awakens. Yep. Williams asked him to conduct the opening music and closing credits. You can read more here.
