kevingamin
First on the field is Les Stentors from Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. Their 2016 program is entitled "Enigma" and consists of: Back to the Future by Alan Silvestri Young Sherlock Holmes by Bruce Broughton Overture to a New Age by Jan de Haan
kevingamin
A coded message! Neat.It is quite the enigma. :D
kevingamin
The corps starts in various poses on the field. Wow, they sound so far away. They're not piping any sound through the speakers up here in the press box and I am behind a window.
kevingamin
After the opening statement, a guard member carrying a magnifying glass reveals the first code letter, T. There's the sound!
Hrothgar15
The corps starts in various poses on the field. Wow, they sound so far away. They're not piping any sound through the speakers up here in the press box and I am behind a window. I'd be surprised if you could hear any corps up there. Even by the time you reach section 240 and above, the acoustics are already such that you can't hear the corps at the intended volume level. kevingamin
10 horns, every one of them putting out sound. That small of a group performing in this large of a venue with just a smattering of people in the stands can be intimidating, but they're doing it.
shofmon88
The music that they opened with sure sounds a lot like Silverado by Bruce Broughton. Is the Young Sherlock Holmes piece based on that?
kevingamin
Solo guard member does a sabre toss/catch to end this movement. We've now revealed the R in the coded message. It ALMOST sounds like they're going to play some of Elgar's Enigma Variations, but no. I guess that would be too obvious? :D
