xandandl
Nope not too many clues about show theme, music or what to wear from this shot during talk about how to relate with excited, well meaning alums. pic.twitter.com/3Nang9gffV Edited April 29, 2017 by xandandl

Approx 35 were chosen and filled before this weekend's camp.. if accurate, then approx. 7-10 will be chosen ( including alternates ) to round out the Guard section by the end of this weekend. Also, keep in mind, sometimes spots are filled, a few other spots open up, as those who earned spots, for one reason or another, circumstances dictate that they won't be marching. This is true with all Corps. So these numbers I gave you here are just approximates, and to just give you a approx. update on the numbers. If the bib numbers are only half right, that's a lot of kids for so few spots. Seems like brass/percussion players who don't get offered a contract in Nov./Dec. have more time to get picked up by another corps than guard kids late in April. Unlike Brass and Percussion however, lots of Guard applicants compete in WGI in the Winter, Spring. So Guards are the last sections of Corps typically to be completely filled out. So Guard applicants that don't earn a spot in any of the Top 12 Corps they audition for, still usually are able to secure spots in other Corps Guards. Boston ( I believe ) had 90% of their Guard spots filled before this weekend's camp, so the guard applicants that decided to try out, were more than likely aware of this when they auditioned this weekend . Some who auditioned may have already earned a spot in line with another Corps, but tried out with Boston this weekend anyway. I would not know this for certain, but its not all that uncommon with Top 12 Corps to have this .I agree however that the auditioneer's window of time to make these Guard earned spot decisions for both applicants and Corps alike is typically smaller than with Percussion and Brass auditioneers.
