BRASSO
The Blue Devils are the most dominating competitor of any competitive sport, or competitive Marching Arts competitions, in the world. Not even the NY Yankees, the Boston Celtics, the N.E. Patriots, the Alabama Crimson Tide football, or Duke Univ. Men's Basketball, or Uconn's Women's Basketball have so dominated a league, and for a long, as have the Blue Devils of DCI. Based on this long term historical success, insofar as the Blue Devils are concerned, they blow away the conventional wisdom that " past results, do not guarantee future results ". Since there has been such 40 years of medals domination by BD, it is folly to believe that the next " 10 years " won't be pretty much like the last" 10 years " for DCI's long time gold standard Drum Corps. Conventional wisdom here frankly does not apply to the Blue Devils... thats how dominating they have been in DCI, and since almost its very inception itself of DCI. George Dixon
in drum corps you have to take the long view cavaliers and cadets and blue devils are the big three then SCV Then scouts regiment etc then the one time champions and remember the world didn't start with DCI Edited March 2, 2017 by George Dixon

BRASSO
21 minutes ago, George Dixon said: remember the world didn't start with DCI Exactly. If we include the pre DCI years along with the current DCI years, one would be required to include the Blessed Sacrament " Golden Knights" in the very top tier, along with BD, Cavs, Cadets. Also, DCI is not the only Drum Corps circuit... as such, if we include DCA, the Reading Buccaneers & Hawthorne Caballeros need to be included in the top tier as well, imo. Some people forget that before DCI years, some of the very best Drum Corps in some years were found in the Senior Corps circuits, not in the Junior Corps circuits. DCA also predates DCI by almost a decade. DCI founders went to DCA BOD'ers for tips and advice in starting up their new DCI Circuit, lest we forget as well. BRASSO
"Nobody cares" that Carolina Crown or the Bluecoats have no more DCI Titles won than do the Anaheim Kingsmen does when Corpsband here does these medals breakdown since the inception of DCI... ( except of course, perhaps the alums of the Anaheim Kingsmen.. lol!) Edited March 2, 2017 by BRASSO
BRASSO
Generally speaking, only 1 or 2 Corps in all of World Class, move up or down more than 3 placement positions from year to year in DCI most seasons. So thats the " short term " historical prism we can usually MOST relie upon from season to season, imo. Who will be these 1 or 2 Corps this season be that will move up or down more than 3 placement positions from last summer ? Only time will tell.
