Cadets 2017

Hey Mike -

The "relative scores" are not falling just yet. They are actually holding pace with the other top corps

Let's see how SAT and the next week goes and then panic time can set in

I just watched the runs from last night. Cavaliers and Boston are still within striking distance of Cadets - so they could finish 5th and feel solid about 2017

A drop to 7th or 8th could also happen - and the we gather the pitch forks

Honestly from purely enjoyment/creative level I enjoy BD, Coats and Cadets the most out of the top group

I do think (in some ways) 2017 has been a step forward. Especially drill design and visual execution

I will agree 2017 is better than 2016, from a visual design perspective (barely - it's theme is on overkill), but not from an execution perspective (musically or visually). I LOVE the musical design of this show, it is really quite wonderful in my opinion, and the visual design is nice (although not on the same level as the current top 6). The problem is once again they are pulling out a club and clubbing us to death with their theme.

I say they will finish 5th. I said they will finish 5th way back in March/April/May and I still say the same

I literally said they would go into SAT in 7th and be about a point behind the next group and then finish 6th in Allentown and then leap frog to 5th on Friday night of finals week

I still think that's what's going to happen. Just rewatched the Cavaliers show from last night - Cadets can beat that. Cavaliers are just cleaner (right now)

I don't agree at all. They will not pass the Cavaliers. There is no way. I'm honestly not a fan of the Cavies show at all (except for the great guard), but I don't see the Cadets getting any closer to them. The Cavaliers design is VASTLY superior to that of the Cadets. Night and day. I also think Boston stays in front of the Cadets through Indy. If anything, BK will threaten the Cadets.

The last time the Cadets passed up anyone during a season was 2011. The last time the Cadets did not get passed up by 1 or more corps during a season was 2011. Recent history does not bode well for your argument.

George, I don't see this show finishing any higher than 6th, I think it drops to 7th or 8th so lets get the pitch forks out now. The show design isn't really that much better than last year and this show doesn't have any excitement what so ever in it. Hell, I think you and Cadet2000 could design a better show, kidding all aside the Cadets need some major changes with the design team in the off season or they will be stuck in the 5th-8th place range, if that's where they want to be then so be it but I certainly don't want to see Cadets in that range. Like Mike said its time Cadets makes decisions based on the future of the corps and what kind of product they want to put out on the field. It's extremely frustrating to watch the Cadets put out a poor show design year after year so I hope they turn it around sooner than later.

I don't think Cadets, or any other drum corps organization, should put up with condescending and childish leadership regardless of where the corps finishes. It's a poor representation of the values that the Cadets have represented for decades. JMHO.

George by any chance are you coming to Nashvlle? Would love to buy you some hot chicken!

Yeah, that's really nothing, honestly. The overall spread between them and Cavies hasn't even changed 0.05 since day one. Cavies beat them by 1.85 at their first meeting, and 1.85 last night. History tells us they will likely beat them by much more at finals.

LOL - I would actually love to sit down and meet with this man to find out what he is all about. Gosh, during the days I marched I would have trembled in his presence. I remember the first time I saw him thinking, "Oh my God, that's George Hopkins." He IS a legend for sure. Whatever you may think of him today.

If anything, I see Boston climbing to fifth. That is the best Carolina Crown show ever put on a dci field that wasn't Carolina Crown. I see Cavaliers and Boston going neck and neck all the way to finals night.

I don't see Knights really even threatening Cadets at 7. Whole other level of show design.

I agree about Boston, but 2013 and 2015 Crown were two of the greatest.

I don't think BK will pass Cadets, but it would not surprise me. The judges seem to absolutely love them year in and year out (not saying they didn't deserve their recent success, because it is well deserved).
