tesmusic Posted February 14, 2017 Share Posted February 14, 2017 I was just introducing my kids to the Muppets the other night, by starting with the 2011 movie, and some other excerpts from their various shows/movies, and it got me thinking. Could a corps do a Muppet style show, and still be competitive. There is some great music, in the right hands, that would be great, but could also be expanded beyond music specifically within the Muppet catalog. Not to mention the colors, costumes, characters, etc. There's also so many subtle jokes and innuendos, that are all over. So my question is, could it be done? Would it be done? I mean, the obvious answer would be an old-school VK show, but Carolina Crown could just as easily stage it like they did the Rach Star show, or even Blue Devils. I was actually thinking of VK when I posed the question, but obviously that wouldn't happen. It would be interesting to see Crown, maybe BD do it. I had seen in someone's social site a fake photo of a judging panel all costumed as the Moppets, Miss Piggy, Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster. I laughed so hard when I saw the original panel on which it was based. Too true. Now hard to get the imagery out of my head. I'll have to look for it to share. Muppets could be interesting, I feel like BD could probably do it the best considering their history in character developement this past year in The Tempest.
