Can Crown add the vocalist to the entire first half as well? I just want to read the reactions to that. Love this show crown :)

Heck, why not just send all the brass players home?

Wouldn't that have prevented VK from bringing out the shark at Finals in 1992?

No.  Hellll, SCV some years didn't dust off the bottle dance until finals and most corps are adding/deleting until the final rehearsal.  But it shouldn't be asking too much to have the main music done to some drill.

Not the same. Those are obsolete technologies. G bugles are not obsolete, just out of style and expensive. That's more of an artistic choice than anything.

Having been given the opportunity to use a wider variety of brass instruments starting in 2014, corps haven't been very imaginative in that regard yet. Plenty of French horns and even more trombones used, but not much, if anything, else.

I don't see how Cadet's show could be described as sterile... I think their show has the most (clearly currently untapped) emotional potential on the field this summer. Certainly less sterile than a show about a snake eating itself, a deconstruction of drum corps, or Bluecoat's show this year. I love all of those shows, some maybe more than what The Cadets have on... but there's so much room to grow.

I honestly hadn't even thought about that, but you're right. A Cimbasso section would be rather interesting, for instance.

Let's not kid ourselves though: switching to Bb/F instruments was purely for financial reasons.

I think the second item have bolded may explain the first, as far as people's response at this time. It's a very very very difficult show. So many different items to balance. At the moment, they're doing remarkably well, by which I mean they're at about 50%.

Cadets still have talent, but the show still is pretty unemotional and rather plodding and dull, imo. That said, they are scoring very well, and when they put in their closer, the show won't end so abruptly, and could generate better audience appeal with that.

It is more engaging when seen live, and it did improve in just a few days between my seeing it live for the first (Massillon) and second (Pittsburgh) times. But I totally understand the impression it's making on you. I've seen a great orchestra perform a great piece of music, which I had loved in other performances, that left me and the rest of the audience bored. If it can happen at that level, it can happen to any performer.
