I'm not getting that vibe from this year's show Force of Nature I'll give you, but Scheherazade and Spark of Invention were incredibly percussion-focused. Scheherazade slightly less so (I'm primarily criticizing the balance based solely on the gigantic amount of musical material available in the Rimsky-Korsakov that could have been used instead of one or two drum breaks), but Spark of Invention was practically built entirely around a percussion gimmick (the theremin) with drum breaks everywhere.

I criticized SCV's show for being "SCV's Battery and Friends" and some homers got pissy.

Oh well, it is very percussion forward in terms of the focus. The corps is very impressive in all captions, but the show itself just can't hold my interest and the drill is very compact compared to the other top corps

Clearly you have horrible hearing. You should probably watch this if you think that the entire brass line is playing chords and this is not a hard brass book:

Spark of Invention felt like a wgi percussion show with some brass thrown in. Never got into that show. The past two years have been much better.

That said, this line is very good, but I don't think anyone doubts that.
