Remembering percussion judges (Joe Colla)

Recommended Posts

My old-school memories revolve mostly around the 60's

team of Currie and Reynolds but I also remember seeing

this man's name at the bottom of sheets numerous times.

(sheets with columns for specific rudiments)

The transition from "ticks" to "tapes" was largely overseen

by men like Joe.

Joseph Colla, a steady figure in the earliest days of DCI judging, dies at 80

I sure remember Joe judging in Central States. He was always very fair with our drum line and offered great suggestions and encouragement in critiques. He was one of the good guys. RIP.
