Walter
That's OK Sue, you get to a certain age and you get these little brain farts every once in a while!!!!! :P After a while you get to know when their coming and it gives you time to think of something intelligent to say before you speak. It never happened to me though, ya right!!!!! :(
SaraNYC
I would have to say that night in June 1985. Hearing George Z screaming "SARA! Where are you! Get in line" as we got ready to line up to take the field. Marching on to the field in Bloomington Normal Illinois. Hearing my best friend from high school screaming my name as we took the field. (GO SAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRAAAAAAA) The announcer... "From Bloomington Indiana, the Star of India" (WTF!?!?! Never mind Sara, just pay attention to the drum major, don't miss the downbeat!) And then finally after all the build up, marching in the first show ever of the Star of Indiana. The rest of the season was anticlimactic to me, even finals. The only thing to ever come close to that feeling for me was watching Star do the cross to cross move for the first time in Lynn Mass in 1991. uncle z
I'll share mine with you experientially...................................... Get out your DCI Echoes Volume 2 "Signatures" CD Cue up track 21--"Softly, As I Leave You" Listen to the crowd as the corps heads to the back corner and goes into the company front........ What starts out as a smattering of polite applause becomes more enthusiastic as the crowd recognizes the company front from 1980............ At the pause before the step-over, listen to how enthusiastic applause becomes basically, the huge Montreal crowd going apes###!!!! (the hair is standing up on my arm as I type this) Now imagine being on the field and hearing that come from the crowd!!!! Yep, that'd be the zenith of my drum corps years--I guess if you can't win the show, gettin' love from the crowd HAS to come in a close second.......right, mobrien??? ^OO^ Edited May 14, 2004 by uncle z
Walter
uncle z I'll take lovin' from the crowd if I can't win every time, you know why? It just goes to show that the people in the stands are smarter than the judges, sometimes!!! :P
Tony O
My biggest thrill was taking the field for competition the very first time. I remember thinking to myself all the hard work and dedication was really worth it and this is my reward for it.

KeithHall
I was with the Royal Coachmen in 1976, we were competing at the NT Open, "A" Class. We marched the NT Open parade prior to the show and then walked single file to our rehearsal site. Once there we rehearsed briefly and silently, in single file marched over to the stadium. We played and marched the best show and beat out the Kinsmen Krescendos and the Simplex Minutemen to win the "A" Class Championship. The next night we took last place in Open class (won by Marquis). What great times we had back then! B)
Lancerlady
My biggest thrill was marching with the 27th Lancers and being taught how to march by George Zingali and marching his drill.
jojo
LOTS of them ... but everytime I think I've had the ultimate, couldn't-possibly-get-better-than-this moment ... I get another one! I don't think I've had IT yet. B)
