Jcontraman
Best ever in the History of DCI hmmm I would have to say Phantom and Star are in a tie for this one I mean almost every show I have heard from Phantom (and trust me I might be young but techno is great I think i have heard every year from 79 to present (Big PR fan) have been really really darn good just that right sound. But the few years that star was here with us darn was that a hornline powerful and pure emotion just pouring out. They might not have been around as long But I would say the two lines are for a tie. steelcityrabbit
How about Gen. Butler Vagabonds 1975. They beat Madison Scouts in MA (musical anylisis) at the Inter. Open. They had one of the best lead sop lines to ever step onto a field of competition.

dc oldtimer
Not a long list but there were so many good ones that it is easy to pick a few top lines... and NOT just because these guys had great soloists. One or two great soloist do not make a great hornline!: 1) 1975 Scouts 2) 1991 Star 3) 1973 Muchacho's 4) 1985 (?? - whenever Kansas City was) Blue Devils 5) 2002 Cavaliers (I know, I know but the more I LISTEN to the DVD the more I love the hornline. The ballad section moved them WAY UP the list)
dcibrando
you won't agree... but I would have to say Cadets 2000 try standing in front of them that year.. OMG.. and WAY in tune
RotoGary
People will think I'm a little screwy, but I was right there up front for these great years: 76 - SCV 77 - Bridgemen ( no one was close that year) 78 - Bridgemen (no one was close this year either) 79 - BD 80 - Tie, Spirit and 27th (Two of the finest hornlines ever) 81 - BD (I liked them better than SCV) 82 - Tie, Garfield and BD (Watch the Cadets again on the DVD, they were hot) 83 - Cadets (but boring as heck this year, 82 was better) 84 - DCI Lost me as a fan. Drum corps changed for the worst and boring was in.
