Oh god, why does this thread not mention any NEW music BD can play? Jazz alone is such a huge genre itself, why do you want to hear the same songs over and over again. Aside from the downright bad arrangement of Channel One in 2002, they already won a championship with it in 86, and did they not play it 2 years ain a row in the 70s? There's so much GREAT jazz BD has not played yet, why don't we venture down those avenues?

I think BD would do very well Diminuendo and Crescendo in Blue by Duke Ellington. A very hot number with lots of music and difficulty, not to mention a good dance number (which bothers me they didn't play music that sounded like THAT in the Dance Derby show.) Infact, Ellington has tons of music BD could play. Stan Kenton has already been done to death in the DCI circuit, god bless him, but let's hear something different.

Blue Devils - 2006: "Kentucky Derby of the Century."

All Bluegrass music...the guard in fine Southern attire, all adorned with bonets...and the narration can actually be the calling of horse race...along with real horses.

<<the preceding was supposed to be humorous>>

SERIOUSLY, though -

JAZZ=Music of the eighties...in the 21st Century.

Make it some face peeling charts that can highlight a blistering hornline, smokin' drumline, and awesome guard...THAT would be the BD we all know and love.

Would the race be run backwards?

I would love to see a be-bop show. Music featuring Miles, Dizzy and Clark Terry they could dress the guard as beatniks and do some wild dance stuff.

A NIGHT IN TUNISIA
