KeithHall
I'll start this off and others can finish In 1975....Lakeview Shoreliners merged with 71st Lancers to for The Imperial Regiment In 1977...Royal Coachmen merged with Frontiersmen (who were St. Johnsburg Blue Sabres and Red Raiders who merged earlier in the season). In 1982...some members of Greece Cadets got with Mighty Liberators and Lockport Blazers to form The Renegades 1982...Other members of Greece Cadets merged with someone (HELP HERE) to form Northmen and then merged with Patriots to form Fusion....did I get that right? 1976...Mark Twain Cadets merged with Vestal Grenadiers to form Southern Tier Express. Okay NY experts add more!
GGarrett
Can't help you with those mergers, Kieth, but the thing that strikes me most about all you have mentioned is the number of corps that had to either merge or look for some other way just to stay alive. :( The number of kids and staff involved there could be 1,000 or more, in that I counted 13 or so corps you inquired about. And you are only inquiring about a fraction of the corps that went through the process... That is just amazing to me that there were once SO many places to march in every state, and now we have a core (no pun intended) nucleus of what... 80 or so corps nationwide that come to compete on a national level? I think Syracuse Marauders may have merged too with some corps. Also...Spiegelaires merged with someone to form Avant Garde Was American Patrol a merger? Tri-Town Cadets and someone? KeithHall
Yea Greece Cadets were on a roll trying to merge with anyone they could. I really liked them and was proud in 1975 when thewy won DCI "A" Class Championship. They went down hill and I think 1979 went back up and then just couldn't hold it together. MikeD
1976...Greenwood Lake Lakers, NY merged with the Wayne NJ Monarchs mid-GSC-season to form the King's Regiment.
Northern Thunder
I purposely omitted the King's Regiment, since one of the corps involved was from NJ, but then I did include the 1973 Brassmen/CT Shoreliners merger, so I should have included King's Regiment too. I was their percussion arranger and instructor in that era. In 76 Mickey Palmisano and I worked the line together...he was an alum of the Knickerbockers. In 77, our best year...the great drummer/instructor Jack Pratt worked the line with me.
