MikeBob
Nope, not at all.SCV + Adams = Win. I almost forgot -- I want a full "Nixon In China" show. I want someone to do justice to "News Has a Kind of Mystery."
alto92
Nope, not at all.SCV + Adams = Win. Actually, SCV + Adams + Kernis + Dello Joio + Freund = 4th (jk, jk) I think the reason minimalism and SCV work so well is because of the 'blank canvas' kind of effect minimalism has. As minimalist tunes develop, you feel like the performers are developing it - it feels spontaneous. SCV's interpretation of minimalist pieces has been spot on, in my estimation, especially with Canyon and Orawa. Lance
Speaking of Dello Joio, even though it's been done before, I'd like to see a show from his Scenes From the Louvre.
Matt_S
Canyon and Orawa. Two of my favorite drum corps charts ever! I'd love to have seen that staff tackle some Gorecki
boilerman_05
Yes. Love Adams. Saw him conduct "Harmionolehre" and excerpts from Glass's "Aknahten" in March. Awesome.I want to hear Glass's "Orion" on the field. Huge, wide-open vistas of possibilities for a drum corps show. I kinda have a thing for minimalism. I love Orion and I'm listening to Akhnaten right now! Orion would be a perfect for people who don't like minimalism. Plenty of "real melody" in it. Gorgo
How's about some Randall Thompson? Methinks his "Alleluia" would make for a classic ballad. :)
