Soloist with best tone quality?

Recommended Posts

Hahaa and another bari soloist--

I think his name was Jim Rogers (no relation--but nice guy), I think he was the bari soloist in 93 BD--cool stuff there too.

'84 BD French Horn, wasn't that Preston Howard? I loved his solo then met him and found out what a great guy he was.

In LA Fiesta? Yeah....that was Preston.

(honorable mention to 84 BD - La Fiesta

If you;re talking the opening trio, that would be Steve Leanene (sp?), Duane Schimmel (also in the Like a Lover duet with Gino Cipriani....duane didn;t march a whole lot in the 2nd half of the show!), and John Hendrickson (who had a small solo with Madison in 85).

If you;re talking about the entire sop line at the end of the chart....on behalf of all 22 of us, thanks!!!!

For baritone I'm voting for the soloist from Madison Scouts 1999. Amazing tone.

I liked the Cavies second trumpet solo in 2002 as well.

Edit for my amazing job of typing.

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Each and everyone.

I'll bring a litlle East Coast in here for a minute.

101 must be remembered soloists ............ Jeff Kivit 75 Muchachos Sop....... no words are needed just find a recording and listen.

a couple other favs for the record.

Tim Barthlomew (Shorty) ............. Ice Castles-81 Garfield Sop.......... PHAAAAAAAAAT

Jim Cooper ................ Jeremiah intro-85 Garfield Bari......... One breath and all sweetness

Al Chez ................... 81 Garfield Sop .......Personality and performance. Tore up the house every night.

I know I said east Coast but......... No one should ever say the words Mellaphone and Soloist in the same sentence and not at least acknowledge Bonnie Ott. Period.

Soprano is easy...

Mike Collins during the slow section of Channel One Suite in 1986 Blue Devils. Simply amazing, and it looked effortless.

Ahhhh....the "Bearded Wonder" Gotta try and get him into the alum corps....speaking of which, John.....haven't seen YOU sign up yet!!
