Matthew
I'm sorry, but the trumpet trying to act as the clarinet solo does not work for me. Nice attempt, and I am sure as he/she cleans up the clarity, it will sound great! At least the clarinet solo (in the original) screams out at you like a slut! I'm also very pleased that The Cadets are sticking closer to the original--which is something I always value in an arrangement. Other than that, this arrangement is already growing on me (over the SCV 1999 arrangement).
usmpiano
I agreee. I'd actually rather here this on a mellophone - although a G Mello would probably be a better timbre. Edited February 15, 2007 by usmpiano

idontwan2know
Gotta admit, I'm a bit underwhelmed. Not much(not anything, really), in the way of development or layering that defines the original piece and makes the jam sections interesting. Lots of money shots...no foreplay. The pit writing could fill it out in that direction...we'll see.
Caveman28469
Now if Cadets could play more music like this without any narration it would just awesome to me. Now this is only my opinion just to say. To me, this is sort of "old Cadets" and to me that is just grand. Love it! B)

marshamello
Is there anyone out there who heard the ensemble performance of this at the last camp? Just wondered if you could speak to the percussion writing for Blue Shades and any comparions to previous renditions of this song. Thanks!
