DCP-I 8 Season Discussion!

Recommended Posts

From the FC United website:

Last season's dramatic finish to the season appears to be playing out one more time, as Kosmos finished in first place ahead of rival Mystre by a nailbiting margin of .05. Kosmos seemed to have the stronger marching program and overall visual package last night while Mystre had the advantage in brass performance. Close finishes were the order of the day, with 2 other ties (for 4th and 10th place) just a half-point separating first place from 12th and, 13th place Roselle Park Conquistadors missing finals by a scant tenth of a point in their best season to date.

Meanwhile, Providence brought their season to a finish yesterday with a 6th place finish in yesterday's division 2/3 finals. The corps improved their standing by one position from yesterday. While the corps could not quite recapture the magic from their prelims performance, they did manage to capture a share of the color guard trophy.

Confirming the rumors reported yesterday, Providence is planning on moving up to division 2 next year with a program entitled "Exodus". More details are expected to be announced during the offseason.

Well mixed emotions from the Star camp. The day started out really well.

First congrats to Cross taking the GOLD in D3. What can we say these guys got through a lot this season, the drop to D3, new staff and most the members changing, sickness, some on-field accidents, and look they made it. Couldn't be happier for them taking the trophy back to Scotland. It was so close with FDC and CCR.

Star of Hawaii.....sooooooo close to a 3-peat. We take the SILVER. Man what a job by new comer FDR.....you guys deserve 1st! Nastalgia too. Was surprised that Les Blanc took 5th. They were very strong all season.

Then last night. Jupiter fell flat. Sad ending to a otherwise great season for them winning a few regionals. Made some risky changes trying to push them up and didn't work. Think the first finals in a long time we will miss. Competition in D1 is tough with great set of corps and directors. Good luck to all corps tonight at finals. We will be there in the stands rooting for you. We see the usual suspects at the top but anybodys title to take. B)

Thanks too Jeff and John on running the show. If ever we had an issue with captions they fix it quickly. Everything went find with captions this week.

Last night was a great night for the corps for the FDO and we did everything we wanted to do with the shows just at the right time.

Battalion, though they will be the first to perform tonight, will certainly not disappoint anyone with their show of Gustav Holst's music. We added a couple of last-minute things (nothing major, trust me) that should help with our music score.

Regiment... My, my, my, what else can there be said? They played like champions and they earned the Division II Championship. Looks like adding in the Russian for the Hymn was good move after all. B) They have been successful since the pre-season and their hard work finally pays off, especially for staying above the 90 mark for most (if not all) of the championships.

Cadets... A corps that also had a great run for the FDO. They almost got the Division III crown, but had to settle for the Silver just behind Cross from Scotland, who performed their hearts out and did earn the championship without a doubt.

Regiment and Cadets' season may have just ended, but they have already begun preparations for DCPI-IX with their shows. However, both corps will be travelling to Pasadena to see Battalion and the rest of the Division I finalists in action including regional rivals, The Westerners of Turner County.

Well, if DCI posts recaps within the hour, we can have scores tonight.... otherwise it will probably be tomorrow morning.
