silvertrombone
Not bashing. Noticed Lisa's signature--Blue State territory. Hats off to a person for being very informative on a topic that many in the Bay area are hostile to. Rock on, yourself!! ^OO^
The Nagging Cough!
Assigning colors to states sends me into a frothing rage. I'm going to go step away from the laptop for a few minutes so that I don't make some Tasmanian Devil mess of this thread.

I find your statement to be a bit misguided. <**>

There are other forums where that can be done. Sadly, not on DCP anymore.
Browniebrick
Politely suggesting that you not post in this thread then, if it's going to throw you into a fit. There are other forums where that can be done. Sadly, not on DCP anymore. Forcing people to be patriotic by showing respect to something or someone doesn't quite seem like a general tenant of "Freedom". If people don't like the behaviour of others then bite your tongue and live with your personal opinion in silence. If you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all. I do take my hat off and cover my heart because I choose to do so. However, we are not required to do anything in the United States. The U.S. society has lost touch with civility in general, and preaching your belief structure to others out of some inner feeling of propriety, patriotism, or proper etiquette is not socially correct. Diversity will live on only if Freedom is protected for all.
skajerk
?? I'm not forcing anyone to do anything! I politley suggested that he not post in this thread if it was going to make him go into a fit. This thread is not the place for it. There are other avenues to do that.

Fran Haring
DCA does not require corps to have an honor guard to compete in the circuits, nor its championships. There is a separate judging category for honor guards at championships. I do not know about the local regional shows, anybody? So, honor guard does not enter into your DCA Championship score, nor your placement. But, if you desire the honor and distinction of (American Legion?) Champion that dons the Orange flag, you must have an honor guard and carry (be sponsored by) an American Legion post. To my best knowledge, I think that this is correct. BT Yep. The American Legion-sponsored DCA show in Scranton is the only one, as far as I know, that requires each corps to have an honor guard on the field. The only difference is that now, I'm pretty sure that the Scranton show is not considered to be the American Legion national championship show. It was when DCA Championships were run in Scranton from 2002 through 2005 (the Open Class winner was also crowned American Legion champ), but at last year's Scranton show, no Orange Flag was awarded.
