From inside Phantom Regiment Headquarters

Recommended Posts

The staff has been living on pure adrenalin since the corps was crowned Drum Corps International World Champions back in Bloomington. No one will forget that night. The pure excitement of one of the most entertaining shows in DCI history. The incredible standing ovation which seemed to start halfway through the show and build to a crescendo with the final note. The crowd going nuts when they hear Phantom Regiment has won the Gold Medal.

This was quite possibly one of the most amazing moments in the history of the activity, and they were a part of it.

Fast forward to today... sitting around in the office with Rick, JD, Dan, Chip, Paul and Nick.... all of them staring at the championship trophy. Each mesmerized, thinking about that night, wishing they could do it over and over again.

In front of each of them was a blank piece of paper. Rick, in an effort to jump start the meeting, takes his pen and scribbles the number "2009" at the top of his parchment.

But the air is filled with silence, and most have a drained, yet worried look on their faces.

Finally, after hours of silence, a hesitant voice from the middle of room utters...

"How in the hell do we top that?"

The air falls silent again...

Anyone else wonder how they'll top themselves in 2009?

This is a lighthearted post ya'll... have some fun with it.

Jesus Christ, Superstar.

They get to dress up the drum major as Jesus, and bring him back from the dead.

So what's the member limit for this season?

150 again, sir.

Hmmm... well, let me see... carry the three... we need to kill 2,492 people in our show to top last year.

... Done.

If they do things right, they will not strive to top their performance - they will only strive for excellence yet again.

A different direction ? Absolutely not ! Once you tasted heaven, delivered heaven, experienced heaven, you want more...you become addicted.

Over the top, too good to be true and as dramatic as can be, while not compromising skill, excellence, entertaiment, or complexity.....

Thats the key to either first or fourth.

I wonder if there's a 12-step program for recovering from drum corps addiction?
