Eleran Posted August 26, 2016 Share Posted August 26, 2016 (edited) I love DrumManTx's idea from a little while back of Academy doing a silent movie show. DrumMan's idea, huh? Actually, silent films were almost always accompanied by live music, so "silent" would not rule out the brass and drums from playing. I agree, however, that the "Silent picture" theme should probably not be applied to this particular show, which is geared to the late 1960's Italian-made western genre. That said, I DO think that a drum corps might well consider exploring a visual theme tied to silent films, which might even use dialogue cards like the example I gave above. I would think that there is much visual material to plunder, especially within German Expressionism, which would meld well with certain composers.
