corpsband
yeah i know but listen... suppose you're one of the corps who complains about losing all of your best kids to all the "top" corps every season. what if you played turn-about on them and tried to recruit their kids? suppose you offered something crazy (for eg. no tour fee if you marched in a top 5) ? would a MM switch corps to save $4000? or is it really about marching with their 'dream corps' and money be ######? would it make an impact? (this whole topic inspired by a rambling FB msg thread that started with System Blue commercials at finals!)
ouooga
Vets you'll probably never get. Rookies who have a contract but have not signed, maybe.
Eleran
Except the lower-ranking corps are usually in the worst position to offer free tuition. They already have less chances at sponsorship funding (because they are lower ranking) and less chances at alumni funding (because so many of their members eventually move to a higher ranking corps and give their alumni support to that corps, not their first corps). Which all means they probably rely on their member tuition more than the higher-ranking corps, and can't afford to be offering free rides. mcjordansc
The kids who march these days have the money to do so (with help from mom and dad). Not sure free tuition is all that important.
kdaddy
Similar question, though less targeted to recruit members from other corps... Let's say BAC is spending $60K each on the top level designers that are joining from other corps (this is the number I heard from a solid source). This would result in a design budget of $350K or so (and I'm sure the top level instructional staff will also be paid handsomely as well). With that kind of bank to throw around, from apparently a benefactor or set of benefactors, would the corps be better off by spending $150K of that to reduce corps fees by $1000? Or would the resumes of the design staff be worth the extra $1000 to members?

C.Holland
If you have the ability to march a top 10 corps from last season, for free. (which means you have a very good chance of being in finals again) I don't know many who wouldn't take the one free season. Because, while the corps may be different, its also really expensive. Which for a free season, anything can be tried for a season.
Tobias
probably true. perhaps for something like a drum line where the caption head moves and wants to bring all kids with him? Or a guard...
