  1. Past hour
  2. Honestly I've been keeping up with Crown's socials and they posted some videos of body visuals for brass members that they were working on. Let's just say their choreographers are cooking. I'm definetly seeing the vision of a dark show that some people have speculated on with all that they've show us so far in terms of visuals. What do yall think is the likelihood of Crown winning the GE or Guard Captions like in 2015 and 2016 respectively?

  4. Blue Cathedral by Jennifer Higdon. This might be a neat work in more of a contemporary classical nature for BD to tackle. Would not be the entire show (and the video is just a short clip of the work) but it could be the genesis of the show idea. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=489988111876318
  5. Ok, great to hear. As you could see I phrased that as a question because I don't know either. But I seem to remember one of the judges remarks about any reference to the old organization.
  6. There are some semi-classical/jazz/new age fused composers out there who have written some remarkable works that I do think Blue Devils need to take a look at.
  7. Actually, not true. Our legal advisors have looked everything over on the website carefully, our mission statement is clear, and they are quite aware of the "in's and out's" of CAE's legal issues and what we can do or not do. We have had discussions for months concerning this. Thank you for your concern.
  8. I think Bluecoats are going to have an absolute killer-fun show. As with many of the recent years I expect them to contend or be close. I am excited for Blue Devils as always. Obviously I expect them to be amazing and to contend as they always do, and seeing that BD polish live, in person is a sight to behold. I also hope the show is as fun as last season or even more so. Looking forward to hearing the music Carolina will be playing, and same with Boston. I absolutely LOVED Boston's music last summer. Same with Carolina. From just a music perspective those may have been my two favorite music books. Probably the biggest question that will be on the minds of many fans is will SCV be closer to the top 4 (maybe in the top 4) or are they closer to the 5-8 crowd? I have to believe camps have gone well. The corps, despite the financial issues (etc.), is still one of the biggest brands in DCI. If the show is designed and developed well then I have to believe they can compete at a high level. Or will the likes of Mandarins, Phantom, Cavaliers be too much for a corps that had to take a year off? I loved the Mandarins show last year and look forward to this summer. I also have a feeling the Cavaliers are going to be HOT this summer. Maybe a dark-horse for top 5. I always love me some Phantom Regiment. Just like last year and the year before I think the 5-9, even 5-10 matchups are going to be incredible. And with Troopers recruiting popularity over the recent years and their surge in ranking and quality (not to mention Colts, PC and others) I think it's from 5th to 15th that we are in for a treat this summer. The only real predictions I can make now is that Blue Devils will contend. I think Bluecoats will be in the mix, as will Carolina and Boston. But I am curious to get a read on SCV. Good luck to all the corps as we head toward the spring training in May.
  9. Today
  10. I’m soooo happy with their song selection. And also, it seems like them are moving past their psychedelic phase. What they put out so far seems like a very strong cohesive concept, capable of competing for top spot. I fully expect they are doing something about playing with blocks or jenga, which is like Bloos answer to The Cutouts.
  11. That's what I get for searching "Boston" on DCX Museum instead of the song title. The listing has no composer credited for Foreplay, but it does show it as part of the Knights' rep in 86, like you said.
  12. Troopers announce early & now everyone else is playing catch-up. 😎
  13. I agree. Also someone may have also brought this up but the name of this organization, with its obvious reference to old Garfield Cadets/Cadets, may make them liable for current or future law suits, Yes? I get the idea...but it might be too early for this.
  14. Yesterday
  15. Based on the selections - the Bluecoats are gunning for PERCUSSION caption. Loving the branding of the show idea in the announcement! Good Luck Bluecoats, bring something on to the field that we haven't seen or heard and can't wait to see the visual package that compliments those musical ideas.
  16. I love having more reasons to get psyched for Bloo's 2024 show!
  17. Thank goodness they did it first this year. An absolute unexpected treat! Kudos to Bluecoats leadership for that surprise. 👍👍👍👍👍
  18. Bloo won’t announce any details about their show until five seconds before they step off at their first show.
  19. Drum corps always increases my music vocabulary and BLOO is so innovative that i cannot wait for another increase..Peace
  20. Bluecoats announcing before Memorial Day? This didn't just happen, did it? 🤯
  21. The Geneseo Knights opened their show with "Foreplay" by Boston back in 1986.
  22. Yah 2014 was a great show. I loved it when they pulled out the classic uniforms on the racks at finals for the ending. That show still gets me every time at the end. The build up to the star formation, then the gentle tag with the 50, the couple moving into their new home, and the uniforms on the rack.
  23. Though this is not the first time Son Lux’s music will be performed on the drum corps field, this is the first selection the Bluecoats will perform as part of their two year partnership with the band. This does, however, appear to be the first time a drum corps will perform the music of Boston. https://medi-nerd.com/2024/04/28/bluecoats-announce-2024-musical-selections/
