So I work for the Nashville Symphony as a Recording Assistant. This week they are performing The Romeo and Juliet Suite.... this would be such an awesome show in my opinion.... what are your thoughts? Steve

I honestly didn't like Ohio State's band very much.. I respect the things they do as tradition, but the high step hop thing looks simply rediculous and the way they turn corners in the follow the leader with a snap of the head up and around looks pretty rediculous as well. I'm not trying to ruffle anyones feathers... its just not me at all. if you dig it thats cool... and i didn't find them to be clean at all... there feet were all over the place. I'd rather watch a corps style marching band any day then the Big Ten Variety... but maybe thats because i grew up in florida... like 1000 miles from the closest Big Ten school. P.S. I hate the Gators I grew up an FSU fan, but Now I'm an Alumni of Middle Tennessee State University. GO Blue

Oh wow... i saw these guys perform in a REALLY small bar on Orlando like 3-4 years ago.... thats awesome for them.

I think southwind will surge up... Their show is rediculously hard and there is a lot to clean. When it is all locked in... Southwind will be riding high. As for peaking... I havent seen many shows but it'll be the ones that have over simplified shows that become clean and can't go any higher. Hopefully those corps add demand or they will get killed in the composition category.

The guy was really funny.... keep him around. and that bus was rediculous

Southwind does use all king horns... I havent heard the line in person this season so i can't comment.

yeah that seemed kinda low to me... but i think that was the night that the 3rd bass was out of the show.... so that definitely can throw things off. I believe bass 2 covered the parts... but when you are soooo use to hearing one thing... something else can throw you.

So you'll pay 99 cents for a song off of iTunes that is 2:30 to 4:00 long but you feel 1.99 or 2.99 is too much for around 11 minutes??? that math is a bit screwy... considering the corps gets all of the money.

I also enjoy it... but I'm a bit biased... I have had midis of the shows for a while.

Southwind has had basically the same uniform the last 3 seasons with homemade alterations/borrowed items or purchased used items from broken arrow... these havent been complete uniform set purchases. These will be the first full set new Uniform purchase for southwind since 1999... it's time for southwind to have their own distinct look again... and I imagine there will be some sort of fund drive.... I will surely support putting the YELLOW back into the YELLOW team

A side note rant.... which is in no way aimed to insult anybody I don't see how that is mathematically possible that would mean for every 21 year old they would have five 15 year olds (21+15+15+15+15+15)/6=16 for every 20 year old there would have to be four 15 year olds for every 19 year old there would have to be three 15 year olds for every 18 year old there would have to be two 15 year olds for every 17 year old there would have to be one 15 year old and they could have the rest of the hornline at the tender age of 16 this ficticious hornline would look something like this: in a 60 person hornline you'd have: 3 - ageouts 3 - 20s 3 - 19s 3 - 18s 2 - 17s 2 - 16s and 44 15 year olds A lot of people would consider SW my corps a young corps but in my age out (2005) we had two 15 year old kids in the hornline more then likely the average age was NOT 16, but what do i know

hey i found this on YouTube... its a video of the hornline playing Legends, the corps song.... you can see the high brass vs low brass comparison... the sound quality of the recording isn't the greatest and its high brass heavy because of the vantage point.... but fo those who have never seen SDub in the Lot... this is the corps song. Southwind is definitely not rolling in surplus cash... if you go to the website you'll see that they are raising money to buy a new bus... i rode it last year, trust me they need it... Mike just knows how to be wise with his money and provide the corps with the best experience possible. in other news I heard through the grape vine that southwind's equipment truck, which was solid white all last year... now has a sweet graphic on the side... so keep an eye out for that at shows. And if you have some extra scratch throuw some SW's way so they can get a new bus... the one they are replacing they bought used in 1999 and its pretty much on its last leg.
