  1. Did anyone notice the comments made on Facebook for this video? The first one is from Ralph Hardimon!!
  2. Cannot open it. You have it set for "friends only".
  3. What are you, out of your mind????? There is no way that Boston will be beat by Cavies in 2011!!!!!!!
  4. Or you could do what is still possible today: Call the DCI judges office and ask for the scores for the next three weeks. They have them on file .
  5. The biggest issue with all-age corps is you have to find people who truly want to do the groundwork, not just march in it once you get all the work done. It takes a pretty good number of dedicated people who are willing to work on something for one to three years without an immediate payback. Make sure you have this nucleus of people in place before you go spending your own money on equipment, uniforms, etc. There are many people who have spent a ton of money out of their own pocket on a pipe dream. Get the dedicated support people to commit, then get the paperwork in place, then get the equipment, then, and only then, get the performers.
  6. Doesn't anybody up there own a video camera???
  7. These were posted on the Blue Stars forum area. Looks like the pants are dark this year. Hard to tell the color in these: Pic 1 Pic 2
  8. That's from May 29th???? OMG, that guard is going to be incredible!!!!!!!! The rest is pretty darn great too. They could be very competitive with the very top this year, IMHO.
  9. Sounds like a very smart move. This has worked for so many DCI corps as a recruiting tool (ever wonder how corps like Bluecoats get so many kids from TX?). Good luck to the Cabs in pulling in those clinic attendees as future members!
  10. Still not as tough as 14th to 8th in one year.......
  11. A good example. The first scored show last year in the midwest at Stillwater, MN: 1 The Cavaliers 75.100 2 Phantom Regiment 72.700 3 Blue Stars 66.200 Those three at San Antonio: 2 The Cavaliers 89.750 7 Blue Stars 84.650 8 Phantom Regiment 84.250 Took the judges a while to realize that PR was NOT up to the level of the year before, and Blue Stars had made a marked improvement.
  12. Boston and Troopers rising too makes me happy. Now we need Madison back too.
  13. Sounds pretty solid for May. Seems like the talent is there musically. The only programming thing that bothered me was the amount of drum solo work. Seemed way too long.
  14. Back to the topic at hand. Drum Corps World posted pictures from Blue Stars camp: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/alb...4089&ref=mf http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/alb...id=187840984089
  15. I love the things the snares have on their front rims. What are those things called? This line sounds like it could be pretty challenging to the top lines this year.
  16. Actually, this latest battle is NOT DCI (the office) against the rest of the world. It is DCI (the office) and the non-G7 corps against the so-called G7. Read this article and you will clearly see that the G7 has left the DCI board and only those corps from outside of that group are now part of the DCI board. http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=4...fd-5aa854f91ba0 For a change, the DCI office was blindsided like the rest of us by these primadonnas from the G7.
  17. Many top 12 corps fill these holes with alums who are still eligible but did not come out that winter for various reasons, such as $$$, school, etc. These folks are a known commodity, have a known talent level and ability to survive Spring Training, and usually get a pretty good break off the total fees.
  18. There were several corps that had very long drives to finals last year, and will again this year. I know two of the top 8 corps stayed in Brazil last year (65 miles one way to LOS), which is almost to the western edge of Indiana, just east of Terre Haute. I also know that the KC area has become much more involved in the competitive marching band activity since the 80's, and there are great suburban districts with multiple high schools that all have great band programs now (i.e., Blue Springs, Olathe, Shawnee-Mission). At the very least, the KC area would be an aweome place for a big regional like the Minneapolis one they are holding this year.
  19. I think there will be some pretty significant movement this summer, particularly near the top: 1. Crown 2. BD 3. SCV 4. Cavies 5. Blue Stars 6. Cadets 7. Boston 8. Bluecoats 9. Phantom 10. Madison 11. Glassmen 12. Academy 13. Blue Knights 14. Troopers 15. Colts 16. Crossmen 17. Pacific Crest 18. Spirit 19. Pioneer 20. Mandarins 21. Jersey Surf 22. Seattle Cascades 23. Teal Sound
  20. To make sure I do not #### anyone off, I am giving everyone a warning that the following statement is meant to be sarcasm and should not be take as an attack on the previously mentioned group or anything else derogatory. If you have a thin skin, please turn away: Boy, that's the first time I have ever heard anyone say that about a drum corps during the pre-season .
