THAT will be cool. Looking forward to seeing you folks this summer. -
I would hope they are better than 23rd place at quarters....considering there are only 20 World Class corps this year

I'm interested to see how much they will try to do visually to represent the race. Could be fun. -

if any of the corps wants to stabilize financially right now, the best thing they could do is convert any cash holdings they have to Euros. These increases in fuel, food, etc., are almost a direct result of the devaluing of the dollar. -

Does not seem like they are planning on doing "all of the corps". Their poll only asks about last year's top 12. Guess corps like Academy, Blue Stars, Madison, Crossmen, Pacific Crest, Cascades, Southwind, Troopers, Mandarins, and Pioneer don't matter. Open Class definitely won't get a shot, nor will DCA, MCA, etc. Ah, the world of the supercorps. -

If these parents are not careful, they could create another one of those tragic situations we keep reading about with kids commiting suicide, or wiping out the entire family, etc. This whole situation demands some really intense counseling and oversight from a professional. -

You know, now that you have put it in writing in a public forum, you have to pay it to the winner. It's the law!! -

Not sure about the show theme, but I do like the high leg lift on the horn players in the video . Hope that is in the show. -
THAT is ridiculous!!! How much $$$ does it cost DCI to keep the APD's available for sale on the web? Most likely, NOTHING! Hard drive and server space is extremely cheap now, even cheaper than keeping things on paper. Why in the world would they not make these recordings available to purchase? ANY money would help these corps at this point.

One very good reason I can think of for the World Class exhibition corps versus becoming a competitive Open Class corps is the re-qualification work for becoming a World Class corps. If they just take a year off as a World Class corps, they can come back as a World Class corps pretty easily. BUT, if they go down to Open Class for a year, they have to go thropugh the entire evaluation process to become a World Class corps again.

Open Class does NOT help you financially. Particularly if they were going to go to DCI. The Open Class corps do not receive any performance fees from DCI whatsoever. So, you basically have to be self-funding. With the price of fuel, the price of food, etc. all going up, going to DCI for an Open Class corps would be as bad, or worse, financially than it would be for a World Class corps.

This is the one thing I hate about DCP since they made the change: an important thread like this one, which could help with the creation of many new corps, keeps getting shuffled back to page 2 by all of the announcements and re-announcements of every corps' camps, fundraisers, membership drives, etc., etc. Maybe this thread should be moved to the important threads area......... -

When should we call it something else
noneofyourbusiness replied to 84skyrydr's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Didn't The Hopkins come up with a different name for The Cadets and Crossmen a few years ago that everybody slammed? Something like Youth Performance Ensembles or some tripe. Maybe someone should dig that old stuff up and propose it at the next rules meeting. THAT would be really funny, watching The Hopkins squirm around figuring out how to kill a proposal based on a former idea of his . -

Drum corps Prophecy 101
noneofyourbusiness replied to cd89's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
It is amazing how many of these one- and two-year DCI wonders know so much about life. Ever notice how many of them post stuff on here right after they age-out about the new corps they are starting, only to never even make it to a first camp? Marching a few years in DCI does NOT make you an expert on life. Try living in the real world a few decades first.
