  1. So Bill, my DM from way back when, what shows are you going to?
  2. Why would you want to have shakos to make them anonymous? Girls in the pit are usually cute...
  3. Cadets Bluecoats Crown SCV and even Cavies and BD which is unusual for me.
  4. I really liked the Tritons Cap Reg used in 04 and 05; they were durable and very comfortable. The Dinkles for Cadets were less comfortable and not as good to march in IMO, but looked better.
  5. Wow way to add constructively to an oft-overlooked topic...NOT (talking about the topic starter)
  6. Is a dulcimer a legal instrument in DCI? Simple question, not trying to start anything.
  7. When I marched Cadets in 2006 the corps had a large Latino contingent, mostly from Miami...also I've heard there are lots of Latinos in Blue Knights
  8. PS: I think people will find the repertoire VERY fan-friendly this year. Very melodic show.
  9. I saw a video of a Spring Training run from Monday (I have my sources ) and the corps is SICK...extremely aggressive and executing at a great level.
  10. There are a heck of a lot of Yankees fans all over the world, too. I saw a guy here in Panama a few weeks ago with a Yankees hat.
  11. It was stated in the Fan Network announcement...I believe Madison, Atlanta, San Antonio, Semis... maybe Orlando and Stanford and Allentown too
  12. The elimination of retreat in 2005 had an unexpected result: back when we had retreat, we would perform and then wait around for a long time in uniform until retreat happened. Our uniforms had time to dry out (from the sweat of the performance). Without retreat, the uniforms would go back into their bags/on the truck right after the show, sometimes almost dripping with sweat. The result was that the uniforms were a lot smellier in 2005 than 2004. I distinctly remember Crown marching past us at a show warmup in Texas in 2005 and they REEKED. In 2006, my elastic cumberbund darn near molded. Anyone else experience this phenomenon?
  13. Yea, it sucks. I will be going to both Erie and Massilon, hopefully catching some of Cadets rehearsal in Erie on the 30th.
  14. I totally agree with jwscv87....your point about Bluecoats beating Cadets in the beginning doesn't really make much sense because Bluecoats also beat BD and Cavies later...and they hadn't beaten them the year before.
  15. As of Wednesday night there are two show clips on FNet and a little vignette talking about the body movement they're putting in Claire de Lune. I like what I've seen so far.
  16. Erie, PA June 30th Massilon, OH Aug 4th Championship week
  17. SCV definitely also used the Garden Weasel in 2004.
  18. I'm willing to bet Coats will be closer to Cadets than expected at the first show. Then The Cadets will totally rail all season.
  19. Ayala was fine except that the poem they picked is the most trite, overused thing ever. The other one was fine too, it's just that it suffers badly in comparison to the much more famous Cadets version. Neither of them seem to provide conclusive rationale for electronics and narration to be a bad thing all the time. Sometimes narration sucks. Sometimes the music a corps plays sucks, too. It doesn't mean corps shouldn't use music.
  20. Yay I'm actually looking forward to this show a lot, I'll be interested to see how The Boxer translates to the field. I marched and went to school with one of the DMs.
  21. I liked how last year's guard wear borrowed little visual motifs from the corps proper uniform.
  22. Doesn't make a lot of sense... Besides, the corps is on the left foot in the picture
  23. cadets are doin' it wrong? #### that they're one of the best ever
