  1. Boston can be top 2 in brass and percussion, and will likely win Guard. They're on fire in guard. Bluecoats has a sizzling brassline that could definitely be top 2. Guard was less on, but still top 3. Percussion is fire too. Crown guard was on fire. Definitely a chance for top 2. Percussion is hard for me to judge, I find the show bland. Blue Devils seem to be top 3 in everything, but guard could be below both Boston and Crown. I like BD's show in many places this year, but I don't think it's a GE monster, and it's just a good top 3 in each caption. Of course, I'm going to throw Cavies percussion in for top 3, which could muck up other corps mentioned above. Phantom Regiment could get some nods for brass too, which might muck up the top 3 corps. I like where you're going, but I'm not ready to shut any of the top 4 out of contention until they're all together at the same shows. It seems to me that the West coast scores are 2 points too high, the East Coast/South shows are 1 point too low, maybe 2 points too low, and the Midwest is the baseline scores. This is based on head to heads with Crown. It was interesting to see Cadets score below Cavaliers, and then the Mandarins score ahead of Cavaliers on the same day. I think that the scores need to normalize before we can make better comparisons. The head to head in Cincy shows that Crown was ahead of Bloo and Boston at that show. That's all we know.
  2. Went to high school with at least two of the guys in this corps... I'm OLD!
  3. Cavaliers next show is Thursday in Mississippi, so they're going to break 80 then!
  4. I'm more into rooting for corps because of the members over the staff, but yes, they have a successful group of staff in Concord, California.
  5. Mandarins will be in the mix for sure!
  6. Honestly, SoCal has sooo many great marching bands, and marching band students who will perform in drumcorps and WGI, so it would make sense to have a finalist corps stationed there. Same thing with Texas, which finally has some corps around.
  7. Me too, and I LOVE BK. When people become hyperbolic, I gotta show them something closer to the truth, and that 1996 season was a low point for DCI.
  8. I am 100% MORE interested in seeing Blue Stars after reading that posters post. Thanks to that guy, they have another MEGA fan for the season...
  9. You've not lived through the history of DCI. BK 1996 already holding your beer.
  10. I think they have a picnic today. Rosemont picnic...
  11. Uniform changes have been done before, that's not it.
  12. ..and I was hyping on them too. Blue Stars brass is great and probably taking a hit score wise due to caption bleed. They're a great corps with a good show. Go green!
  13. Back in the jurassic era of the 80s, when Cadets were in their dynasty years, they'd come out dirtier than a skunk, and end up winning. This feels like the Cavaliers this year. Who knows how it'll end, but it's a good story. DCI loves a good story... $$$
  14. I kinda called this when I saw Cavaliers in Adrian several weeks ago. They'll clean, adjust, water, add, layer, and all of that, but the percussion section is top 5, and solidly. It's going to help them get through the staff changes and growing pains, I hope. I'm just trying to keep things positive.
  15. Honestly, Im digging Blue Stars this year, so I can't criticize...
  16. The tenor is out due to concussion protocol. Some injuries are a plague on the corps.
