  1. I'd say this a pretty good call. I so love watching the Open Class Corps compete at this level. Such a crying shame DCI LIVE doesn't include Open Class Semi's as part of the LIVE package, very short sighted on their part if you ask me. and So Unfair to the Open Class Corps, members, families and their fans and supporters. Would love to hear from DCI why this is the case.
  2. That makes two of us luv4corpse (lol). The place is going to be "electrically charged" if Bloo and Academy are able to meet our high expectations and actuallize our dreams!!!!! I'll be cheering for you, from afar.
  3. I Believe, That won't be known until the concluson/final scoring results from Thursday's show.
  4. As do I, I toured with you during that first Calif trip, "Debut"ing wearing your Corps Jackets! That first performance totally shocked an unprepared and unsuspecting audience that was literally blown away by THE ACADEMY's initial HIT and performance. You then went on to go UNDEFEATED in your Three Seasons (the first two truncated) as a Division II Corps. I Was there in Madison, Camp Randall (My definition of "Drum Corps Heaven) in 2006 to see The Academy march away with GOLD, The Spirit of Disney Award in Div. II, and seeing Mark Richardson, being named Div. II Corps Director of the year. I Remember every minute detail of "DANZON". NOW, 10 years later, in 2016 to witness their incredible season (sadly from afar) and the nearly Universal praise by all those "experiecing" the beauty, pagaentry, and emotionally gratifying and satsifying performances of "Drum Corpse Bride" Thanks to DCI LIVE and Periscope technology I've watched this amazing Corps embrace and bring to life?! lol the Academy's Creative Teams Vision and Michael Klesch's Brilliant musical book, and Program Coordinator Michael Townsends, and Jamie's drill design to elevate this budding program into full bloom is one of the most gratifing experiences in my 51 years in the activity. I can't imagine the incredible "Wedding Reception" that is awaiting The Academy's appearance in Indy this Thursday, Friday and power's to be willing, this Saturday..... S a t u d a y,....S A T U R D A Y N I G H T ! Thank YOU, and Thank you ACADEMY for the ride of a lifetime you're brought joy to my heart, and tears of PRIDE to this Corps Relic's life. With Deep Gratitude. GO ACADEMY! "Your Effort is indeed The Prize." CONGATULATIONS and my Best Wishes to YOU ALL on your continued "Journey of Milestones (Tombstones!?)"
  5. Yes, I second DrumManTx as my favorite DCP'er. I am sure many or us hope that THE ACADEMY'S "Drum Corpse Bride" makes it into finals. and onto the 2016 DCI World Championship Finals Blu-Ray DVD Disc!!!! Go Academy!
  6. That was dead on the spot of you. LOL I am Looking forward to seeing the newly "sponsored" $500.00 personalized tombstones on the field in Indy. What an absolutely "Brilliant" and lucrative fund raising idea on the part of THE ACADEMY marketing team!!!! If they were able to raise donations for the 20 they made available, they will have cleared $10,000.00!!!! FYI: there are actually 40 pew chairs/tombstones on the field for "Drum Corpse Bride.".
  7. You're always the "voice of reason". Yes, The Academy's 85.650 tonight, yet another milestone on their journey to Indy.
  8. Really!? "The Academy at this point does not have the musical talent or difficulty of show content of virtually any other corps in the top 12." WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY INSULTING and "Out of Place" COMMENT coming from a seasoned "35 year" vet of the drum corps activity. I've got 51 years! and marched from 1965-72.. That one comment sadly, taints the rest of an other wise well written and well intentioned post I can agree with.. FYI: They're on my payroll also, since 2004.
  9. Granted, this is SO Wrong! But I still couldn't help but LM*AO, I am still trying to pick myself off the floor. At the of age 65 this is no easy task, care to lend me a hand?! I Nominate this the most un-PC: Post of the year ( - :.
  10. NOTE: last time it checked it WAS NOT being Cinecast at AMC/Desert Ridge in Phoenix (my favorite DCI LOUD LIVE venue). Weeks ago, when I learned Desert Ridge WASN"T carrying the feed a friend and I booked reserved "reclining" seats at Cinemark Theatres, on Dobson Road, in Mesa, AZ. But theatre is small and quickly sells out. Good Luck. .Sadly I believe only Three Theatres Carrying the show in Phoenix!!!!
  11. FYI: To date (if memory serves me correctly, and at this stage in my life that often fails), The Academy remains the only Division II Corps 2004-2006 to go through it's entire three year year Division II history UNDEFEATED. NOTE: However, their first two years were LIMITED tours, As noted above, they concluded their first "National" tour in 2006 winning Gold in Division II at Legendary Camp Randall Stadium on the campus of the University of Wisconsin, in Madison. In addition, THE ACADEMY also captured that year, the "Spirit of Disney" Award in Division II, and earning Mark Richardson, Division II Corps "Director of the Year" honors. Mark to this day remains The Academy's Executive Director.
  12. No, they have NOT made it into the Top 12 YET! They got the closest in 2007, their debut season as a World Class Corps, placing 13th behind Spirit of Atlanta in Semi's. A little Trivia: Their highest finish in a regional also occurred in 2007, in San Antonio where they finish 10th stunning the the DCI World ( - :
  13. Oops.....the Brass Caption head's first nameis actually MICHAEL!...it's currently 1:03 AM I've turned into a pumpkin and my brain has gone to seed. Sorry Michael.
  14. Dan released his latest " DCI Field Pass/Pod cast yesterday within dci.org/news. It includes a portion on "The Academy". He was with them in Atlanta recording a post performance talk being given by Mark Larkin, Academy Brass Caption head as he addressed the members, Here's a gem of a Paul Brandt quote Michael shared with the "A" Team......."Don't tell me the sky is the limit.....when there's footsteps on the moon.' You'll find the entire video of the address on youtube, posted, August 2.2016, under "Remember The Moment." Dale Carnegie would be proud. Enjoy.
  15. The Academy's "Sorcerer's Apprentice" stuck in my head..... "Unchained Melody" surely strumming the Heart strings.
  16. For Sure. I was also concerned over their dreadful slot in San Antonio. But they turned a seemingly disadvantage into their favor, outscoring and finishing 12th, ahead of: Colts, Troopers and Crusaders. We could very well (or not?!) see the same turn of events this evening. Cheers to the Bride and Groom!
  17. Das Tuba: The Academy Drum Major goes by "JT". Great observation on your part. YES, I find him to be one of the most Expressive, Photogenic and Professional Orchestral Style Conductors in DCI this summer and I concur, a sure candidate for Jim Jones Award. He reminds me of Will Pitts, the legendary DM From Phantom Regiment 2005, 2007 & 2008 "I'm Spartacus" (Now Phantom Regiment's Brass Arranger).
  18. Nice Review Das Tuba. Particlarly enjoyed your comments regarding THE ACADEMY. Yes the guard is quite strong this year the lead "actors/Wedding Couple" have so much chemistry and artistry between them. Those Xylo's skeletons, is another annual Classic Academy Front Ensemble feature. Surprised you didn't mention the Closer...IMHO, Their full, extended version and fluegelhorn solo of "Unchained Melody" is one of the most fan pleasing and emotionally satisfying of the summer.
  19. OH you just warmed my heart. And old Corps Relic Bostonian here. Love, LOVED, L O V E D! 27th. My Most Beloved, and Most emotional Drum Corps experience was the 27th Lancer Reunion Corps taking the field in Sullivan Stadium, at DCI World Championships in Foxboro, 1985 I believe?! For me it was, and forever shall be 'DANNY BOY!"....to be played til my dying day and at my Memorial Service. Thank you for you beautiful sounding post. SALUTE!
  20. This is an ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT fundraising idea "To Die For!" $500.00 per "personalized en-graved lol, tombstone that will be placed on the field of competition in Indy. How friggen cool is that!, Only 20 of the 40 available for purchase. Who wouldn't want to take a piece of this show home with them!? The Academy is hitting on all cylinders on and off the field. It's not only becoming a show sensation......but a sales sensation, they have all they can do to keep their Glow in the Dark "Drum Corpse Bride" show shirt on the shelf. This is just becoming so much fun to see how this all evolves as the tour progresses.
