Fran has been staring at those bad shirts for way too long. Forget Blouse? That's the problem with DCA....they want EVERYONE to forget the "Big B"! I also voted a close 2nd for the infamous Nacho Cheesemen. PV doesn't even rate Dishonorable Mention. Sissies.

Ditto that! 2 umbical and 1 ventral hernia surgery later, I got some experience there too! I tried to come back from first one, only to have it give out and need the 2nd one 11 months later. Tried to get back to playing too soon and tore it up. Get well, my friend. Take the time to HEAL properly and you'll be fine, we all hope. It's a drag....ask DA when I had to miss the 96 season with Empire! All the best!

AND, if you read my post, I said a move MAY be a timely idea. I also said that, if the corps management felt a move was necessary, that was their decision. I am not involved with the Crusader management so I don't know exactly what prompted the decision to go inactive. However, I am an alumni of the corps and know many of those involved. Many, MANY terrific people who live and breath for the corps. I, like many on here, are only assuming what the circumstances are. Also,in a previous post, I stated something very similar to your observation of the announcement. Let's just leave it at this; The Crusaders management will do what they need to do to reorganize and come back to the activity ASAP. We love you and wish nothing but the best.

AMEN! I think if the directors decide that a move is in order, they will move. After the failure in Erie last year, people went to both ES and Cru. Some even went to the White Sabres! I personally saw over 25 horns at 2 rehearsals in Erie, but percussion and guard were an issue. A base of operations in the Buffalo area, with an outreach to western PA/eastern Ohio and the southern tier of NY may be a timely idea. I can only echo the sentiments for a speedy return for the Fabulous Crusaders!

I think Don was pointing out that both of these corps took a "time out" and came back. Westshore. specifically, rose from the ashes a couple of times. Hell, they won DCA in 1996! The Skyliners came out of inactive status to win class A, and the Sunrisers and Grenadiers continue as class A copmpetitors, after being sidelined. It sucks that ANY corps has to go "inactive". We can only hope that the Crusaders can make it back to active status and not fold completely.

I think the original caption for that pic was "Tom and Jeff playing Lazer Tag"!

Next Corps to Move in with DCA?
Tommy T-Bird replied to Kansan's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Efforts are being made to get the Erie area represented, but slow going. -
Genkus! Stop with the conspiracy BS and "they weren't an alumni corps" crap. Star has a mini corps, a very GOOD mini corps and that is that. Any other talk of things other than congrats is moot. Grow up people!! Personally, I would like to congratulate Star United for TYING the record for most consecutive mini corps wins. They share that honor with the Erie Thunderbirds (1992-1996). Carry on.

Great Drum Corps Solos
Tommy T-Bird replied to The Original El Guapo's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
I thought about that one last night as I was going over my list. That was one hot solo, and Donny wrote it,yes? One of my all time favorites. John Grass and George "Sidemouth" Richardson remain my heroes! All of the great soloists the Cabs have had through the years are truly an inspiration to any young soprano player growing up in the 70"s ( ahem....like me!) Keith Lentz 1976 Erie Thunderbirds was amazing. Dave "Boots" Martin and Mike DeMayo(sp) both had HUGE sound and excellent tone quality. The list goes on, but I must go to work!! -
Great job Troopers!! Now, if we can only get the Scouts back up there too!!!

Did he pass and I missed it??
