  1. All I'll say is that Teal had an amazing brass sound last year. If they were marching Quantums, then I'm not worried about Regiment.
  2. I saw them early in the season, when they beat 27th Lancers. Amazing show. The 16-count contra note with the sleighbells was phenomenal.
  3. Oh, this thread brings up bad memories. In 1980, right before my senior year, our band director left. They got quite a few applications, including the director from my former high school, who would have been an excellent choice, and one of the instructors for Spirit of Atlanta. Neither were hired, and instead we got a third-rate buffoon who was fired after a year. sigh.
  4. Wouldn't "The Dodo's Search for Meaning" be an awesome Cadets show? ;)
  5. Gotta go with Paisley. And to answer the OP question, the drums should be grean & white paisley as well.
  6. heh. I fried the speakers in my car from playing 1996 too loud.I'll have to abstain until I get the DVDs. While I did see PR in person this year, the seats were too low to see the drill. But I must admit that the brassline tickled my no no place.
  7. Few people know that Spartacus was really the first person to be run over by a buick.
  8. And this is a problem why?Romans also never played multi-valve instruments or wore pith helmets, or amped their pits.
  9. 4th movement, Mahler's 2nd symphony (Resurrection)Musically, BDs 06 show didn't work at all for me.
  10. Wow, that sounds painful. Do you use Prep-H for that or...never mind.
  11. Technically, the piece was "Sanctus", based on the Canon in G. It's fairly new, so is still under copyright. The thing about copyrights--the thing that tends to make people twitchy about them--is that in many cases, not defending the copyright can result in forfeiture of the copyright. And that goes not just for the performance, or the work being performed, but also logos.
  12. Canon was 5 years ago--today there would not be much of a demand for a DVD for warmups from that year. Right now, though...well, you've seen the posts. Right now, PR could finance next year's gas by dumping this year's guard gear on eBay. ;)As far as stretching exercises go, my guess is that PR doesn't have someone searching and watching every PR video on youtube or google. More than likely, they're just doing a search for 2008, and having that removed.
  13. All right people. This thread without pictures is just wrong.
  14. Just a couple of lesser known shows that need some love. Cavies mid 80s -- This is when they started making the transition from a lower-tier crowd-pleaser to contender. Particularly 1986 (?), which featured a magnificent performance of "Variations on a Korean Folk Song" Madison 1983, for the biggest, baddest version of Strawberry Soup ever. Phantom 93 -- In addition to killing masses of the Roman legions, Spartacus 08 also bumped this show off the top spot of my favorite Phantom shows. It starts slow, but once it kicks in (trust me, you'll know when), it's breathtaking. Spirit 1980 -- Ladies and gentlemen, THAT is a wall of sound. Actually, you really can't go wrong with ANY of the finalists this year. 27th Lancers 1981 -- Possibly their best show ever, featuring a blistering version of Niner-two. This show, which came in 4th at finals, could have taken the crown.
