2017 World Championships Finals - Aug 12

I gotta say that I've been underwhelmed with Flo, watching everything on the other side of the world (down-under) thru a VPN and ADSL feeding into a cheap wireless router. Had a lot of buffer and pixelating thru prelims & semi finals. Today I took some DCP'ers advice and directly connected via Ethernet from my modem. Problem solved! Not one buffer or video issue all day! ...FYI, just in case Flo returns next year. -
I can't help but think that Brandt Crocker is going to need some help to pronounce the show title this year.

Ummm ... my math works this way 35-(2015-2001) = 21

I'm also curious what is believed needs to be improved in the brass arrangement - I've enjoyed Ryan George's music over the past few years - it seems to fit the BAC style. Also, I seem to remember only positive comments about BAC's music this year. The only negative comments (besides those from the anti-vocal, anti-synth clans) seemed to be focused on the visual and show design this year. Although it took a while to hit its stride, I thought this year's show design was pretty spectacular during the championships, and fitting of a 75th anniversary extravaganza. Maybe, it could have spread the field or worked around the banners a bit more - who knows. I'd be interested in what the GE judges had to say about it during the season. BAC had fewer competitive shows scheduled this year, and one of those was a rainout - while this gives them more time on the practice field (also more time for the designers and staff to make changes), I wonder how much effect this had when they were competing. Does this help or hurt their mental confidence when they're performing?

Do you mean Chris Holland, Ghost?

Free: One, 12 foot pole on wheels with blue banner. Warning - occasionally uncooperative and unwilling to change. You can pick it up in the parking lot of Lucas Oil Stadium.

Was it the same one, right front, 2nd from left? That one has been a problem in a few shows. -

DCI SOUTHEASTERN CHAMPIONSHIP OFFICIAL THREAD

Prop error. Supposed to represent House Waldo taking over the other houses. But it seems that there is a rebel in the other houses .... yeah ... that's the ticket ... rebels, but they too eventually succomb to the power of House Waldo. NO it's not a mistake - it's part of the story. -

Props to Dan Potter as emcee. He's so smooth & comfortable with everyone. Good fill between corps. -

"... surged ..." :-). Only 11 pts behind the 'coats. Still early in the season. Set the bar high. -
Why aren't the banners on the field yet? Comments from both Akron and Lisle say the poles are empty.
-
So ... anybody attend the Community Night exhibition in Ashburnham? BAC should have hd the whole show on the field. Any reviews? ... also *bump*

It wouldn't suprise me if they did it "the BAC way" at the end of the season, and bring out the real bagpipe. Isn't it ok as part of the pre-show? I see that they've designed 4 differnt tour t-shirts representing each of the "armies"? Great marketing plan too. I'll take Gryffindor!

Proper attire required to rehearse?
DCIroxx replied to DCIroxx's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Yeah, I'm aware of the "shirts on" rules in food lines & in school buildings. It also makes sense to respect the host's rules & expectations, particularly to preserve the opportunity to come back to the same site in the future. No argument there. I'm also well aware of the '09 BAC complaints - I was touring with them in Texas, proudly wearing my "Core of Temptation" tour shirt. :-D I guess I'm more interested in whether DCI is issuing this instruction to all corps, and for what reason. It seems to be something that's happened in the last week or so. Maybe it is just a Texas thing. -
Reading a recent marching member's blog, I learned that the corps was being instructed to keep their shirts on and shorts rolled down during their rehearsals. I assumed it might have been out of respect for the Christian school housing the corps, but the blogger seemed to suggest that the instructions may have come down from DCI, and may be trying to curtail excessively risque exposure. Has anyone else heard similar reports, and know more about what is behind this?

Works fine on my Samsung S4. I didn't download anything special for FanNetwork. Watched Lacrosse with no hiccups.

I would add that what I don't see from the members is any waver in their confidence either. They too, describe their drill as "difficult", but they also add that it's "cool", "awesome" and "fun". The only hint of negativity I've seen is individual members being upset with the mental errors or ticks he/she had during a rehearsal or run through. But even then, they follow up with "...but I won't do that again.". What I see that's different with the members this season than in prior years is their level of maturity. They're patient and all-in for the long haul! They know they can get it done.- 941 replies

Following some veteran BAC members on other media, I see that, in addition to cleaning the drill sequences that most here say need cleaning, they're continuing to add new music and even more "difficult" drill. It sure seems to me that the staff has full confidence in the corps abilities and has no intention of taking their foot off the gas pedal at this point in the season. #BACon!!!- 941 replies
