  1. You guys were great. I loved watching your shows.
  2. That made me smile in a big way! IIRC either Eric or Jimmy was the guy who had his jaw broken in the Malden parade. I think there was a high ratio of f-bombs in that conversation.
  3. Every night, Conquest, huge response. I had an incredible convo with the DM, contra section leader, and a couple of old-skool baritones in the Allentown lot in 1990 the about the 1986 Malden parade. They were awesome guys, and bad@sses in the best sense of the word.
  4. Touring is a money loser. So as a standalone item, most corps are better off without it financially. Fundraising is harder to figure out. Cancelling tour gets rid of some fundraising opportunities, but also gets rid of the need for much of that fundraising to occur. My sense is that the greater economic environment is the challenge for most corps survival.
  5. I don't think you're going to have to worry about this too much. There aren't that many ageouts in a given year, relative to the total number of members out there. Maybe it would be a concern if it has to be a returning championship contender, but a 17 year old rookie isn't going to make that level of corps very often. There will be plenty of spots in world class corps for qualified applicants.
  6. Tour doesn't pay for itself. It's a money loser. Everyone has to raise money to survive, and those venues for raising funds are already being hit hard. Bingo halls are closed, people are losing jobs at a startling rate, stock market is in the dumps. So cancelling the tour won't kill many corps, maybe fewer than if they all tried to take one for the team and kept hope alive until the last minute and couldn't cancel contracts for food service, bus, housing, etc.
  7. Here's an impact of different "X" scenarios on our ability to hospitalize and care for people. https://projects.propublica.org/graphics/covid-hospitals
  8. Here's an idea of "X". https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/news/2020/03/18/u-s-coronavirus-growth-rates-show-many-states-could-close-behind-new-york/5072663002/
  9. The only thing we'll know in "X" weeks from today is that more people are sick. There will not be any clarity on anything else.
  10. True that. But both get a big chunk of their budget from Bingo.
  11. To wit: https://www.bluedevils.org/bingo/ https://www.troopersbingo.com/
  12. Here's what may drive DCI to finally cancel the season: Bingo halls are closing. That's not facetious, it's completely serious. Bingo is still a major money maker for a few organizations, and you can imagine that it will be a couple of months at least before they can open again.
  13. It potentially started with US troops in Kansas who were shipped to Europe before it could spread very far. It spread in the trenches to other countries' troops, and then to the European public. Millions of people were starving in Europe, so were already weak. Then the US troops brought it back to the US and were dispersed far and wide, which got it into the US population in a big way.
  14. I sure hope the corps is leasing a second tractor tralier to carry hoarded TP, hand sanitizer, masks and canned food. It's the only responsible thing to do.
  15. Regarding deducting donations to the new org: 1st world problem! The vast majority of people don't exceed the new standard deductions.
  16. Everyone should perform their exact book (ala early season 91 SCV Fiddler) from either: 1 - The first year they made DCI finals 2 - The first year they performed in DCI if they've never made finals DCI should purchase any retro equipment required, like marching tymps, pikes, spiked helmets, marching bells, and so on. Fans should buy tickets to see it all PBS should broadcast finals in full, with Rita Moreno being unimpressed. The only non-retro thing should be the food trucks and buses. I wouldn't wish no foodtruck and the crappy busses we all rode on anyone.
  17. El Corps de Los EEUU Although, if we could link up with the FC America, we might get some cool fans to show up in the Texas tour.
  18. And crab cakes on the food truck, which will be parked in Fells Point.
  19. Insider info: The corps will be using Old Bay to break a major sensory boundary. it will be so real you'll be able to taste it....
  20. Anyone else remember Spaz and Ogre from Madison, 89/90? True contrabass characters.
  21. 1990 Phantom. We were crushing the midwest, with the highest scores in the country until DCM. Then, BOOM - Cavies.
