So as Championship Week begins I wanted to take this opportunity to reflect back and thank the Crown organization for all they have done for our family. My son will age-out after 6 absolutely incredible years. When our son told us he wanted to march Carolina Crown I will admit I didn't know a lot about the corps (my wife and I had been involved pretty heavily in the 70's and 80's, but tapered off until 2005), but boy did he make a great choice! The administration, the faculty and the volunteers are simply incredible people who have become an important part of our family. The care and expertise that this organization takes to ensure a quality experience for the members, in my opinion, is second to none. The opportunity to perform, and entertain countless thousands people, and certainly to the level Crown has achieved, is something he will carry with him forever. One of our favorite pictures is one I took at prelims in the Rose Bowl in 2007, it was a close up on him right before the performance, he is looking up at the crowd in that stadium with the most genuine smile and has his left hand touching his crown on his uniform, the sheer joy of that experience captured in that photograph still brings warmth to our hearts. My son is a champion because of his time with Crown, the leadership skills he has learned from this experience will carry forth to those he comes in contact with everyday, and in that way Crown will touch the lives of so many more people who perhaps do not know about this activity. I will forever be grateful that he had this experience, and that we got to share in it with him. Good luck to all the corps, the members and volunteers this week you all are incredible people and I know you will give the audiences a tremendous performance. Sorry couldn't get the reply quote thing right on the phone DCI asked that Firstbeat be moved to accommodate those corps in the Orlando show so they didn't have such a long drive between shows. Firstbeat is normally in June and Crown attends. Schedule didn't allow it thus year. It was a great show with some great performances. Congratulations to all of the performers.

I don't know about Southwind and my comments should not be construed to be a comment for Southwind (yes I am a lawyer in real life), but my observation of Crown over the last 6 years would be talented, dedicated members, an extremely committed and knowledgeable faculty/staff a board of directors who believe in their mission and the best management team who are dedicated to the members and the activity. Champion quality people=champion style performances.
