  1. Colts are my corps but from what I've seen, Spirit of Atlanta has the best chance of finals right now..with Gmen very close in 13th. BUT scores are all over the place right now. I can't wait to see them match up tonight, then we'll know where they stand!
  2. Even if others don't think Colts should do a darker theme, I'm excited for them. Its different than what they've been doing lately. I've seen pictures of the drill and I hope it looks just as good in person!
  3. Has anyone heard or seen the Colts performance during their Cornfield Tour? I didn't know they weren't competing until Tuesday 6/28. Are they the only corps yet to perform?
  4. I really don't want this to turn into bashing of anyone. I just wanted to know about the new staff members at Colts. Whether a staff member leaves or is fired..it really doesn't matter. Both Jude and Jeremy found a great home with Spirit of Atlanta and from what I've heard, the kids enjoyed their presence. Get some!
  5. I'm not sure why Brett left the corps, but I have to agree that when Jeremy and Jude resigned, it was probably the best move for the Colts. Maybe the Colts wanted to go in a new direction and those two didn't, who knows. I'm wondering if Max is still going to be touring with Colts or if he resigned and they hired Rich in place of him. When I said core in an earlier post, I meant Greg, Mike, the Tomsa's (Although I'm not sure if Carla is still working with Colorguard), Stephanie Furniss, and Ray are still there. It could be they are having issue with retention but Colts are a classy organization and would never air that publicly.
  6. Chris Tomsa and Stephanie Furniss are still there. I think only Max and Randy Nelson left. I'm not sure if its an admin problem or if they are trying to find those people that will push them into finals. It seems they weren't happy with Nelson's drill, which from looking back at the forums...not many people were fans of it either. Not sure about percussion honestly. But the core staff is still with the corps.
  7. What do you guys think about the new drill designer and perc. arranger for the Colts? Here are the links: Rich Viano Appointed Colts Percussion Arranger Andrew Ebert Appointed Colts Visual Designer The reason I ask is because I'm not familiar with either of these men. Both seem to have a lot of experience and might be good for the overall quality of the Colts team but I'd like to know what the forum thinks.
  8. I think the Colts show had a little more polish, not really expecting Academy to pass them tongiht (IMO). I think both corps did absolutely wonderful though!
  9. corps scores: qfinals Troopers 84.2 (didn't hear it, hope that's right)
  10. With the exception of Atlanta..which I thought was a fluke...they've been making strong gains in their spread from BK and Glassmen. I think it's possible if they put it into overdrive. Who knows!
  11. I give them props but it was completely unexpected, you could hear it in the crowd around me. My first live viewing of the three (Academy, Colts, Troopers) as before I had been watching the live webcasts and FN. I would have had them placed Colts, Academy, Troopers. 3.1 is a very large jump for a regional but I'm happy for them! I want to see one of these corps knock the door down into finals.
  12. Yeah, I looked at Madison's last score, it does look like Glassmen are..I wouldn't say solidly...in 11th for now. I love Madison, not a huge fan of the show this year..shame on me but I get where you're coming from. I don't think it'd be a shame to see them in 13th, I think it would just show that one of those corps worked hard as sin to prove that they deserved it more. I think Madison is a solid finalist though but anything can happen!
  13. My thought was to wait for tonight to see if they really were gaining some momentum. Although the show seems like a high scoring show, I think they might be doing something right. They went head to head with both Academy and Troopers and placed higher than both. The last time I saw these shows (FN) I wouldn't have guessed it but I'm glad to see it. A solid 13th place show for any of these corps is great and shows their hard work. A solid 12th place show shows me that the kids wanted it and worked their butts off to prove everyone wrong! Great job guys!
  14. I can't help but to expect a drop in almost all (if not all) these scores tmo. It's interesting to see the scores for Colts, Troopers, and Academy. Colts and Academy have switched places in terms of placement. The spread to Glassmen seems like it might be too hard to overcome but I WOULD LOVE to see one of these guys do it.
  15. Let's see where they score tmo when they meet up with Troop and Academy again...if they stay ahead then great but I'm not too sure they will. Colts still need lots of work, especially dealing with their colorguard and percussion. The brass is doing pretty good but they need to clean attacks and hold out all phrases.
  16. Yes, head to head their score does drop. At the show they were at, the judges thought they were better than the others they scored above. Can't really say that this is ranking them above Troop or Academy. Also factor in that Colts may have had a good night as well as Troop and Academy may have had an off night. After seeing all of them on FN, I do agree with you, Colts as of right now, don't have a better show.
  17. Here's what I think IMO: They need a new staff, the drill designer this year isn't great, there aren't any wow moments to the drill. The visual team seems like they are trying there best, lots of visuals but lots of dirt too. This could be because it is a younger corp (I don't know if this is true). They need to sit down and watch a few of the most memorable shows that moved corps up from standing outside finals and what they did to get into finals. 2007 was great for the corps because the drill was good and the brass was on top of their game with J.Buck (back with Blue Knights I believe). Ray V. is doing great with the hornline, I think he is doing better with Colts than he did with Spirit. I don't know what happen with the colorguard, I know recently they have had a pretty good guard, this year it looks like they are struggling with easier work. I root for these guys and I know they work hard. I love their attitude toward the activity but without a doubt it does hurt them in some aspects. BD trys to be number one every year, it's their goal. Colts try to put on a crowd pleasing show without worry of placements. I think if Colts can join the two thoughts, fix key staff issues, find a way to recruit top 12 talent, then they will have a top 10 corps. Getting the top 12 talent isn't necessarily a make or break I don't think. With the right staff, any group of kids can create a masterpiece on the field. I like the show this year, I think it has potential but they need four things IMO: A wow moment for Brass, Guard, visual, and percussion. Everything is middle of the road. Throw stuff in that will make the audience remember you. I remember the "death star" from 2007, it was fast and exciting.
  18. I'm usually all over some SCV but this year...not digging it. Brass is amazing but the visual (so far) is leaving me begging for more.
  19. I'm loving the low brass sounds, can't wait to see it live.
  20. So how is this not beating Colts? My last read of Colts was from MN. -just asking. Like for me..I think Troopers have the edge bc of their guard
