  1. Agree with the above but I would add that Phantom needs to make some changes or they're going to be tier 4 by end of summer. And I say this as a Phantom fan.
  2. They just finished. WOW!!!!! They are polished and on fire!
  3. Plenty of seats at the Hanover, PA theater. What a great line up to start the season!
  4. I'm going off memory but either VK or BD winked. I'm leaning towards BD. As for my favorite year, 1989 hands down. I remember watching Phantom Regiment and just sitting there speechless. VK and Bluecoats were fun. The top 5 was phenomenal. I have tried so hard to appreciate SCV's win and I wouldn't even put them in the top 3. If I was to rank 1989: 1. Phantom Regiment 2. Garfield Cadets 3. Cavaliers 4. Santa Clara Vanguard 5. Blue Devils
  5. This is what I keep thinking as well. If they are allowed to unleash the talent, this could be a great year for them. I haven’t been a Cadets fan primarily due to the Hop, but I’m in their corner cheering them on now.
  6. For 20 years I have found a reason to not enjoy SCV. But, darn, this years show is amazing. Love, love, love the ending and walking off the field. I want to run after them and tell them to keep playing.
  7. For me it will always be '89 Phantom ending. That was the moment that hooked me on drum corps.
  8. Everything was great on my end. I had several windows and programs running in the background as well.
  9. What will probably happen: BD SCV Bluecoats What should happen: SCV Bluecoats BD In my perfect world: Bluecoats BD SCV
  10. My top 2 faves of the season thus far are Crown and Cadets and everything else is a toss up.
  11. The company front saved it for me. I was beginning to play solitaire in the first part. Great sounding horns at the end.
  12. Tom Rarick is the percussion arranger. Good chap he is. We marched together all the way back in high school.
  13. The times of when things start is my number one thing I like about living out here.
  14. I was really hoping to have made this show. I'm newly moved to the west coast and this would've been the only show I could've made. Instead, the nasty flu that's been going around decided to make an appearance on Thursday. Thank goodness for fancast. Go Bloooo! <----that's the east coast still in me.
  15. If you're still taking votes: '89 Cadets. Loved that bassline drumbook.
  16. Wow. I'm on the younger end of the age spectrum in this thread but even that is making me feel old. I used to date Rich's daughter. I don't think he ever found out since I still have my fingers to type with.
  17. 1990 - Westshoreman 1991 - Westshoreman Bass drum Great memories. Great times.
  18. Just a small request to those who were able to participate/ attend. Any pictures of the event or warm-ups, etc would be appreciated. I'm stuck in Savannah, GA and need some Westshoreman memories relived. And a RIP to Betty. She was a sweetheart. I remember her sewing on my hot pink triangle to my uniform right before a show as I was putting on my bass drum. She had a soothing effect to her.
  19. I keep reading this thread from the mindset of a once performer and it reads to me: "You better clap or you'll scar these kids for life!". I never cared if anyone didn't clap. Then again I never noticed either. I was too busy busting my butt on the field and shoving the show down the audience's throats. They paid to see a heck of a show and we gave it to them. I agree with the poster above who said they wished the staff didn't hide behind the kids.
  20. I've noticed that as well. The 45 degree turn to the crowd followed by the high sticking. I remember some good visuals although some probably wouldn't be approved of today. My favorite was during a bass drum solo, the snare line light up a joint, passed it down the line and the last guy threw it out. Or the tenor line cracking a cold one or the bass line using their mallets like a shotgun. It took much more creativity to come up with the unusual eye catching visuals.
