Show concepts
Drumcorpsfan471 replied to PCrawfordSnare's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
But why not add twists to older pieces of music as to make them fresh again? Honestly, I thought there was A LOT of power in many of the corps that performed Saturday. Yes the show concepts have become more complex, but I know that I have enjoyed many of them. One show that stood out was Bluecoats this year. It wasn't my favorite show in Atl, but the concept was really quite clever and I appreciated how they presented it. It really was great. Honestly, I'm not really sure what you mean by "regular people." Because last time I checked, 99.95% of the people that attend shows are apart of music programs in some way, whether it is someone who performs or a parent that participated in their child's music programs. -

You would age out in the Summer of 2012 I think...so you have 3 summers left.

There were only 3 shows that really stuck out to me and those were: Cadets Boston Crown I also really enjoyed SCV, but thought those 3 just had something about them... -
Through the years for individual corps
Drumcorpsfan471 replied to Lance's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Mine look like this: Blue Devils - '94 - Such a great show. Loved the music. '03 - My first year of drum corps, so this one just gives me that happy feeling from that season. '04 - Might be my favorite BD show in the '00's. Cavaliers - '01 - I know this show doesn't get much love, but I really liked it. '02 - Obvious why this one is here '03 - Really enjoyed this show all season long. Cadets - I am going to start that this was the hardest for me to make, because I like almost every Cadet show... '84 - Such great music. I love this show. Might be my all time favorite. '00 - Obvious. '05 - I remember running to the gate to see these guys all season. One of my all time favorite shows. SCV - '89 - Just a classic show. '99 - Maybe not the cleanest, but a ton of emotion. '04 - Really enjoyed this show. Phantom - '89 - Maybe should have won. Such a great show. '03 - Love the music that year. '08 - Such emotion. I got chills the first time I got to see it. Madison - '95 - How can you not like this show? '96 - See above comment. '97 - Pirates. Yes. -

Nicely done! Spirit was my shot in the dark, but it looks good that they are catching up to those people that were in front of em! -

Which Bus Do the Drum Major(s) Sit on ?
Drumcorpsfan471 replied to Triple Forte's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Each year was different on where the DM's wanted to sit. Since they have time after we all left for warmup, they would just change after we left and meet us wherever. It really is just where they preferred to sit... -

Cavies, Troop, and Spirit. I'd also like to see SCV and Crown keep it close tonight! I'd like to see SCV keep heading up the standings! -

The MOST Important Question...
Drumcorpsfan471 replied to HolyName06's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Forget that. Once lights go out, game was off. I always just hung a plastic bad on the arm rest as a "mini game." But I was never woken up to play the game. -

See signature.... Most memorable moment for Spirit was probably when we jumped from 14 to 12 semifinals night in '03. Still pretty special to me. For Cadets playing in the '06 line and opening the sound up with Gino the 1st time. I remember just smiling when we finished because I was so happy to be there! -

This. Also the last min of Regiment '08. That was intense. I'd also have to throw in BD '92 "When a Man Loves a Woman." -

Me! Going to Cadets rehearsal for sure! -
I agree the lineup is pretty much the placement in the top5 or 6, but honestly I think things are close enough from 2-4 that it could go any way. BD will probably come out on top (because I heard they were really clean for right now) but I think their lead will start to go down now that everyone starts seeing each other...
-
Not real sure, could be interesting... 1) BD 2) Holy Name 3) Cavaliers 4) Crown 5) SCV 6) Bloo 7) BAC 8) Phantom 9) Blue Stars 10) Blue Knights 11) Gmen 12) Troop Edit - because I forgot BK...

Habanero Hot In Houston
Drumcorpsfan471 replied to skajerk's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I hope they are able to pull things together. I just know that once the mentality of the corps begins to slip, it's pretty tough to get yourself motivated to get back on track. Honestly, I think it's up to the vets to step it up now and push everyone to keep going everyday, regardless of the outcome at night.
