  1. Simply for discussion's sake, do you think that by viewing the marching and playing of a single member in street clothes from each of the various "identifiable" corps, you could tell who they marched with? For example, if they were to march and play some basic exercises, would you be able to tell a BD baritone from a Crown one?
  2. If they took the field in all black tonight, they wouldn't be able to perform for ten minutes because the stadium would be going nuts. That having been said, I like white. It fits them better and it fits the show better. I think this whole dirty feet thing is a conspiracy anyway. They just want to come up from underneath so their first all out victory will be more dramatic. To do this, they're intentionally keeping their visual a bit messy. Tonight, not only will they clean up their feet, they'll be marching an entirely different visual book.
  3. Seriously?!?! I missed it?! I'd better get signed up for the fan network right now... EDIT: Also, since I don't think anyone's said it yet: PR 97.675!!!! Woooooo!!!1!1!
  4. I haven't seen crown live this year, but Phantom's hornline (and battery for that matter) almost took my skin off. There's gotta be some performance enhancement there.
  5. Or, if you want to be technical, it's Japanese borrowed from Chinese. As an interesting and rather irrelevant side note, if you take the two radicals (the different parts of the kanji) separately, the one on the left denotes "person" and the right character by itself means (Bhuddist) temple. Samurai=Temple Man
  6. ... Just a warning, I get the feeling you're going to get lots of crap headed your way for not having Crown on that list.
  7. I'm surprised I've never heard of these guys. I like it.
  8. Best album ever. I know I might get kinda beat up over this, but I don't really think a drum corps would do it justice. It was originally played the way it was meant to be.
  9. Unless you're a sports drink company... Now that I think about it, it's pretty funny in a sad, bitter sort of way that Gatorade can use it for their commercials but corps can't use it for educational/entertainment purposes. Long live capitalism?
  10. I've said it before and I'll say it again: KALEVALA featuring the music of Jean Sibelius. Lots of Sibelius's work has potential, but it seems all anyone's heard is Finlandia. Also, let it be said, the day PR does Carmina Burana is the day I lose all respect for them. Call me crazy, but I think Carmina is the single most overrated thing in all of the world of music. Especially O Fortuna.
  11. In no particular order -SCV 2004 (or maybe 2003... both great shows) -PR 2006 -BK 2006 -BAC 2000 -... *sigh* I'll give in to peer pressure... PR 2008 p.s.- Look how cool I am. I didn't use a single corps over three letters!
  12. Haha. If that's not in the dictionary it should be. For the sake of those reading, I'll refrain from speculating as to what its definition may be...
  13. Sorry, one more thing... (or two I guess) I still don't get how you are defining "progress". Placement-wise? I don't really think the argument that a corps who is not actively competing for the title is not making progress holds any water. Perhaps Cavies, BD, and Phantom just have louder fans? Seriously though, just because I'm not on my feet screaming doesn't mean I didn't thoroughly enjoy the show. If anything I think it shows class that BK's fans don't need everybody in the stadium to know it.
  14. More or less exactly what I was trying to say. Thank you for being more literate than me.
  15. To you and everyone else who thinks BK needs more fan friendly shows, there are 21 other open class corps that deliver plenty of crowd pleasing moments. I think the only real argument anybody has been trying to push against the Knights here is that their shows don't appeal to the average fan. So what? Nearly every other corps does appeal to the average fan. BK's style appeals to a particular group (myself included). I really don't care for BD's or Cavies' style, and I outright dislike Crown (oh no, I don't own a flame retardant suit... I'm going to be burned alive) but that doesn't mean I want them to change. They have their fans and I respect that. Concerning the original poster's comments, I do respect your desire to help out your corps, but it seems like you are basing "success" solely on how well the corps places. I absolutely disagree with this. '06 and '07 BK are two of my favorite shows of all time. Even if they got dead last, I would still love them. Why? Well, to put it in the words of Snoop, that's how I roll, #####es. To sum it up, I see absolutely nothing wrong with the program. Since when was being original and uniquely expressive at the expense of mass-appeal failure?
  16. Yes indeed. Didn't BK go last last year? They are the show hosts after all...
  17. Not to mention shockingly less pleasant to look upon...
  18. It's the same thing that makes cornets different than trumpets: Euphonium piping is more conical which mellows it out a bit.
  19. Bahahaha!!! Kid Rock. Oh man. Anyway, I've only seen live corps in '07 (sorry I'm a n00b) but by far the loudest I think was Cadets. Also, I would like to say that I think they sounded incredible. I honestly wasn't a Cadets fan until this season, but they were the only corps in Ogden to completely drown out the annoying couple talking behind me ("Now I think they call the bigger trumpets mellophones"). An honorable mention goes to BK who also made my rib cage rattle during their big hits. That was just Ogden though. At finals I wasn't close enough to really accurately assess loudness.
