  1. I had a great time watching the show with you last night. I agree with everything you said about the Scouts right now.
  2. So happy for the Skinny Scouts! Go out tomorrow and enjoy the moment.
  3. Those men make this alum proud. Blown away by how much this corps has grown the past few weeks.
  4. When I marched Scouts I absolutely ate up the crowd reaction. There was nothing quite like the roar at the end of the closer or the boos when scores were announced and we didn't win. As a performer making the audience happy is what it is all about.
  5. I still have my gauntlets and cords from Madison in the late 90s. Not sure what they do now, though. I know that members receive a nail with the name of a Scouts alum as part of a program connecting members across generations.
  6. Go Herd! As a Marshall grad and Scouts alum I am thrilled by this. I think he is an excellent hire for MU.
  7. Madison Alum here. That's a pretty broad brush you are painting with. A good summary of why so many of us (from all corps, not just Scouts) stay away from this board now.
  8. Both corps have a ton of history behind them. I don't think one year will cause a seismic shift one way or the other.
  9. Congratulations! The extension is well deserved.
  10. When I marched Scouts we stayed in a hotel for Finals week. Of course, I somehow still ended up sleeping on the floor. The joys of being a rookie.
  11. The g7 proposal concerns me and I feel it is disastrous for the future of the activity. But I will never take out my frustrations on the performers. I work in music education and understand completely how arrogant, ego-driven directors can ruin what is supposed to be a youth centered activity. I hope that adults--both directors and audience members--will behave as such.
  12. I was so thrilled to hear the news. Great things are in store for Madison!
  13. As a 90s alum I am very sad to see the turn things have taken. I have great respect for the current Men of Madison and know that they poured their heart and soul into this year's product. I do not know anything about the internal situation and won't pretend to. I will continue to support the organization in whatever way I can and hope that things turn around. I wish we would stop trying to be what the Scouts once were and start trying to be what the Scouts can be. Not a parody of what once was, but a swagger-filled corps that projects an energy and intensity that is undeniable. A corps that will once again make the crowd want to throw babies; not because they look like the Scouts from some by-gone golden era, but because they have begun the new glory years. 2009 Scouts, keep your chins up. You gave it your all and have nothing to be ashamed of. You left it all on the field and continued the greatest tradition in drum corps. Those of us that can't march any more envy you. Guys that are returning in 2010, go out and bring the swagger back! MYNWA, Michael
  14. It's nice to see some '98 love...I can't believe it's been 11 years already!
  15. I just watched it...Scott and the staff would have ripped us a new one if we played it that way. Shameful.
  16. This prediction is totally wrong. Caballeros for the win with Steel City Ambassadors edging out the Kilties for the coveted 12th spot.
  17. I voted for all of the above and definitely congratulate PR on their win. My heart is obviously with Scouts and Blue Stars, though. Yesterday was a great moment for Wisconsin drum corps.
  18. Congrats to the Blue Stars! It's great to see Wisconsin storm back to Finals in such spectacular fashion.
  19. I am so proud of my brothers tonight. I would have been even if they had finished outside of finals. As it is, tear it up Saturday and BYBO!
  20. No matter how things go down, this corps has worked their collective tail off and the organization is in capable hands. The future will bring great things for the organization we love so much. I am so excited for this weekend and feel like it was only yesterday that I was experiencing the thrill of Finals Week as a Scout. I hope that the modern Men of Madison realize how special what they are doing is and how badly so many of us wish we could be back in their shoes. MYNWA and Go Scouts!
  21. Springdale 18 in Cincinnati for me...right down the hill from home!
