  1. Sorry it was just the straw that broke the camel's last nerve. While a number of people have had difficulty with the streams this year, there have been a handful of nimrods who continually felt it necessary to tell us it works fine for them so it must be our fault and we have no right to complain. They said it was an entitlement mentality and manufactured outrage, and basically implied we were stupid for not paying for the live finals stream. Interestingly enough, after the problems people encountered with the finals stream, some of the very same people threw a fit because it happened to THEM.
  2. I could be wrong. I haven't had an eye exam since after Cadets 96 when I never could spot the cow.
  3. I still haven't caught it, but apparently there are some sort of towers in the Cadets show.
  4. Wasn't Spartacus killed by low brass instruments?
  5. Are we expecting licensing problems this year? For what shows?

  7. I think the tight purple pants really set him off as they mock him by revealing an anatomically normal quantity of certain contents.
  8. I like it because it linked the science and love themes and completed the story. Looking back I might have put the wormholes much farther apart though, out beyond the corps on each side.
  9. One wormhole. Worms not included. Sale began next Tuesday and continues until last Thursday.
  10. They're going to have a hard time finding an ending.
  11. Well, you know, there's always next year.
  12. Unfortunately, I did not really see much drum corps before I was 21. I was 'retired' having been a pretty decent trumpet player in high school. DCI didn't come to Nashville very often but they did that year, 1984, so my dad (also a 'retired' trumpet player though longer retired) and I got tickets to the show. It was at Vanderbilt University. We accidentally got the time wrong and got there way too early, but decided to just go on into the stadium then and look around. So we are sitting there in the stands and this half naked group of kids comes out to the field, staff emerge into the stands, and for the next...I don't remember how long now, it was all just a hazy dream...they practiced. I had never heard brass sound like that, and previously had no idea it could. The show was West Side Story. The kids were the Garfield Cadets. And I have been a drum corps fan ever since. And Cadets 1984 is still one of my favorite shows of all time.
  13. I think the healthiest way to view George is neither as a villain or a saint. It seems almost irrefutable that there is decency in the man because you seldom hear anything to the contrary from those who have known him. But he has not always exercised good judgment and there have been consequences, and people who try to justify his every action are in reality showing disrespect to the victims of those consequences and to those who express honest concerns about them. This thread seemed pretty positive when it was just about being a punch line. I think having a little playful fun and making a few innocent jokes with regard to these events that most people are already well aware of is a more positive approach than angrily taking one side or the other. I don't think anyone is going to be converted by all-or-nothing pronouncements, but we can at least send the positive message that DCI is strong enough to withstand a little controversy by putting it in perspective and not taking it too seriously. .
  14. That's what the evil queen thought but it only took one of them to take her down. Those girls can bring home the dragon and fry it up in a pan.
  15. Band people are generally music supporters just as jocks are generally athletic supporters.
  16. I don't know how anyone could NOT know of his undying passion because it seems to be the go-to excuse that is trotted out every time he does something questionable. Apparently, all the directors who behave professionally just don't have enough passion.
  17. And what seats there are not high enough to grasp the visual, and only a few seats central enough to hear a blended sound, so they don't come away with the best appreciation of it. Are larger stadiums really that much more expensive or difficult to get at a time when they are otherwise sitting there empty and making no more money than any of the others? I'm sure there's a reason for this because drum corps people are too smart and too motivated not to find the best venues they can, I just don't know what that reason is.
  18. . Why wouldn't George cross the road? There were no hash marks.
  19. I probably should have said where doesn't it rain in August that has a suitable stadium. Some of those years in Orlando I think we got all 7" in one show. Trust me when I say you don't want to be outdoors in Phoenix in August. Pasadena. Nice weather, bad stadium.
