  1. It's also on the World Class Forum. Just sayin. I voted for Bluecoats, for obvious reasons, though I am anticipating seeing a few more corps this season. I'm excited for Blue Knights, because they are playing First Suite in Eb. It's one of my all time favorite pieces and I feel like last year they had a great brass sound that I hope will continue into this year. The Cavaliers, regardless of it being an odd year. I hope they can come out and bring something awesome to watch and listen to again. Teal Sound, I got to see their show last year and was surprised at how much I really enjoyed it! I hope they keep improving and make a name for themselves in World Class. Blue Stars, mainly because I just like them a lot. Houdini was a great show, I'm just looking for a few improvements in the details of their show design. They perform really well, I just think they can end shows better. Can't wait for whatever they bring this year! Crossmen, I think and hope that their brass will make vast improvements over recent years.
  2. I cant wait to see their show this year! The Blue Knights are gonna be killin it!
  3. Whatever it takes. I'm sure they would be VERY grateful. I really hope and believe that electronic use will not get to that point of consistent use. I'm positive that there will be (or have been) corps to use it in that way, but usually designers like to create music that sounds good. I don't think that it will become the norm to play crappy, incoherent music with senseless electronic sound effects. Or Incoherent arrangements of good music. Maybe my viewpoint is idealistic, but I believe it.
  4. Well. That is the safe bet. I hope someone can step it up to challenge them at least!
  5. Overall, I picked the Cavaliers. Not necessarily based on one show or another, I just like them.
  6. dont forget the 6 or 7 tenors over there. Probably gonna have 8 basses too.
  7. I have to say, Madison is certainly picking good music for a continuation of their come back. I really can't wait to hear them play this stuff!
  8. I'm just waiting for the Bluecoats to actually announce what's gonna go down this summer. It's gonna be sweet. Don't mess with The Iron Stable.
  9. The Bluecoats theme these days seems to be picking music that hasn't been done on the drum corps field before. And what I really mean by these days is last year... And possibly this year.
  10. That is the definition I am using for my list.
  11. Bluecoats have 7 snare vets. That's gotta account for something right?
  12. This reminds me of the economics phrase "There is no such thing as a free lunch".
  13. My opinion on darkness of tone from last year's top twelve. I'm not going to mess with the music selections, just their brass sound. (off the top of my head) [Dark Brass Tone] Crown Bluecoats Blue Stars Madison Phantom Blue Knights Cavaliers Cadets Vanguard Boston Glassmen (for the record, I cant remember their sound right now) Blue Devils [Light Tone] Thats just what I think right now. Feel free to state your opinions.
  14. I'm still waiting for someone (anyone!) to use Aurora Awakes by John Mackey. The way it opens makes me think that Crown would be a good corps to do it. The slow beginning opening up into just a massive hit with a lot of low brass. It would work great for their sound.
  15. I actually did hear something about "Iron" being thrown around... I dont know about a stable, but it sounds like what I overheard.
  16. I heard a pretty good idea for a new Bluecoats T-shirt this past weekend... though considering what it would say I doubt the BoD would approve it
  17. Bluecoats, Blue Stars, Madison, and Crown's preshow. Never could get into BD's show, and the others I just haven't gotten to as much.
  18. Thanks! I am one of two DMs this year. The other's name is Dave Schaefer, he's been a conductor since 2009.
  19. In my opinion, having a deeper meaning for a show doesn't necessarily need to reach the audience. The performers know what is symbolized by each part of the show and it makes performing each part a little more involving and helps to make the performance a little more fun. I don't really care if the audience didn't understand that the opening set to last year's show symbolized more than a curvy line. Or why the guard was leaning at the angle. I just like knowing that there is a purpose for everything we have in a show. As for 2011, we have very cool music lined up, for sure.
  20. It's Paul's decision who he wants to keep or cut for the section he'll be teaching.
  21. I'm glad you'll be following your corps of choice. I don't like that people are fabricating a rivalry between the Tour of Champions corps and the corps that didn't place in the top 8 last year. All just becuase they perform in more shows that require a certain placement(Murfreesboro, Semifinals, Finals, etc). Granted the format for those is a little different than the other shows, but the cool thing is that the participating corps have to earn that spot every year. It's not fixed forever. I think it's a cool idea. I'm up for supporting corps that perform well and entertain. No matter the placement. Merry Christmas DCP!
  22. Bluecoats Audition camps video Pretty good video I think. (this shouldn't be a violation of any rules, right?)
  23. I loved (LOVED) the opener for this past summer, the Boxer Chorus from 2008, all of 2005 and 2006, Some Day I'll Fly Away from 2004 (Fantastic Ballad). come to think of it, I love all of the recent Bluecoat ballads.
