  1. I can't believe how much Guardians have grown. It's also nice to see Cascades still putting on a large corps. I remember their City Riffs show. Wow were they good. Still waiting for them to get back to that point. But now they have to compete with Oregon for members.
  2. Omg. As soon as they started singing, my interest level dropped significantly.
  3. I'm watching on my laptop atm but soon I'll plug it into my TV through an HD cable and see how it looks. I might also try logging into Flo through the browser on my TV and see how it looks that way.
  4. There is some streaming stuff available in 4k. Not much, thought. Yet. I imagine they limit the resolution to 720 so that people don't record the stuff in true HD and plaster on in the internet, although it doesn't really matter much, it still gets watched, and taken down all the same. I don't see much reason not to stream this stuff in at least 1080. It's 2018, for crying out loud.
  5. Yeah I bought it. Of course I did. It doesn't seem to be streaming in 4k, though. :( Heck, it doesn't seem to even be in HD!
  6. Seriously considering purchasing the Flo Marching subscription to watch this. But I'm on the fence.
  7. I don't see anyone breaking even 98.25 ish. I think BD will be at 97.9 and SCV maybe .25 to .4 ahead of them by the end. Still 3 weeks to go.from this Saturday and 90 already broken.
  8. This is really a very stark moment for the Cavs. Their show design and execution just doesn't seem to have the wheels to compete for a caption. You almost can't get a medal without a caption (anyone with info on this?), and even then, that's not a guarantee. And to top it off, Boston is breathing down their neck. We remember how last year they stole 4th from Bluecoats. Karma? We really didn't know this much about the state of their season until now. Big reality check for those of us, me included, who thought they were gonna medal this year. I still think they're ready to medal, but it looks like they need another year or two. But I think they will get it done. Doesn't look like it's gonna happen this year, but this staff will take them there. They just need a really good, long sit down session and think about how they're gonna do it.
  9. They are performing this show aggressively and with confidence. That right there is huge. The show is difficult and like always, constantly moving. I don't think they will be able to pass Cadets, and we don't know where Blue Knights will fit in with the rest, but who cares? It's already a successful season with a fan friendly show. Hopefully next season they can build on this success. Something the corps hasn't been able to do for awhile. And by that I mean start being able to compete with the next tier.
  10. These are all absurd. None of these events are even remotely likely to happen.
  11. I feel that way about most shows these days. Past few years a little but this year definitely.
  12. This was a great show mainly for the percussion. Man they rocked. They literally sounded as one.
  13. First big competition this season, judges have to start and end somewhere with scores, so I predict scores will go down. It just won't do for someone to end up with 90 or close to it when there's still 4 weeks to go. Blue Stars may end up around 77.5-78 tonight instead of breaking 80 but that doesn't mean they've gotten worse. Score ranges are subject to the field. We'll see. In conjunction with this, we may see some spreads we haven't seen yet. I'm also predicting a Blue Devils win tonight. They always win. Well almost always. BD BC Cavs Boston Crown Cadets BStars Phantom Mandarins Crossmen
  14. 2006 Cavaliers' show was titled simply "Machine". There was no "The" in the title. Nevertheless, 1996 Regiment and 1999 Vanguard get my nod in this particular list.
  15. No. They scored 16.2 in visual proficiency. That's all that's available to see. So 8.1.
  16. Glad someone finally mentioned Cavs 2000-2002 and Saucedo. He may or may not own the rights to that music depending on the contract they had. But my.point is that it's great music!! Whoever said original music is mostly crap, I beg to differ. Especially with Saucedo those years. As for Florida Suite, the only Florida Suite I know of was written by Frederick Delius, a British composer 1862-1934. I'm not sure if that's now considered public domain. Good composers are hard to find. I agree. But I would rather listen to original compositions than crappy arrangements of classical music that we've heard over and over again. There is plenty of music in the public domain that would be great to hear a corps play. Not sure if Messiaen is PD yet but I'd almost kill to see Turangalila put on a field.
  17. Inevitably, 12th place will still end up at 85-86. So I'd expect some corps to stop accumulating points at this pace. The gap between 7-12 at finals will likely be 5-6 points. I'd also wager the gap between 6th and 7th will be around 3 points. Come San Antonio, well begin to see the separations, and where everyone truly stands in comparison to each other. We'll see some heavy adjustments in score happen then.
  18. The Cadets should do "Candy Land". I also want to see a corps do Turangalila Symphonie. Or anything by Messiaen, really.
  19. I'm not exactly sure what the OP meant by double standard. I'm not sure if I want to turn this thread into a political discussion lol I don't think I've ever really seen a show that I found distasteful. Sure there have been politically/socially themed shows. Cavaliers 2016 Propaganda, 2013 Secret Society, even 1992, the Animal Farm show by the Crusaders, and especially Cavaliers 2010 Mad World, about PTSD. Incredible shows all of them. The Propaganda show could have easily turned into a political statement but they managed to avoid that and instead put out a great show that just about anyone could enjoy just for the sake of putting out a high quality show. Now that I think of it, I have come to trust drum corps staffs to produce tasteful shows designed to entertain and not to make a political or social point. The ONLY exception would be The Cadets Oprah show. And even that was still a decent show. They all seem to be toeing that line and then pulling back. There's no need for drum corps to be dividing the fan base like the media does with their politically biased "news" stories. I haven't felt like this trust I have has been breached this season either. As far as that goes. However, in terms for costuming and prop use, that's a different story
  20. 2003 Capital Regiment I faintly remember once they finished their show in the pouring rain and the crowd went nuts. Wish this corps was still around. 2012 Blue Stars was still a good show even though they dropped to 13th. Colts 2014/2015 the Johnny Stacatto murder mystery was a great show. Loved it. If this was about 12th place shows, I'd be all over this thread.
