  1. Cool...thanks. would love to have read those posts. Lol
  2. PNot sure who you're referring to with this comment .but if its me....you have the wrong person. I've never posted or commented in the roundtable forum. Nor have I ever had any comments or topics removed or locked.
  3. The drumline wouldn't even have to get new drums.lol
  4. Guess we can cross that one off the list...
  5. If Mitch to the Cavies is true it does make sense. He is a Cavaliers FMM and designer who has worked with almost everyone on the design team at some point in time. (w Shanefield and mcintosh at bluecoats and atchison at troopers)
  6. Talking with a buddy the other day i mentioned how much i would love to see the Cavies take some old school approaches and mix them with the current trends (body movement/synths, etc...) If the Greg Poklacki rumor is true, i just may get my wish... Greg assisted or wrote the Cavies drill i believe 92-96ish. From what I understand he's back in the states and lives in Illinois. A few years ago there were rumors floating around that he wanted to get back into the activity. Personally, I loved the drill during his era and would be excited to see what he could do with the modern Cavaliers. (I have to admit for years i've secretly wanted the Cavies redo The Planets with all the modern twists) It's all speculation though:( Honestly, I know nothing and will probably end up disappointed.
  7. perc2100 sounds like he already knows who the replacement is....answer me this. is it a good one?
  8. Richard Hinshaw Facebook: Quote I would like to thank The Cavaliers for the wonderful opportunity to design and teach with them in 2012. This week, I learned I will not be asked to return for 2013. Although I am heartbroken, I will always cherish the memories and learning experiences from this summer. A huge thank you goes out to my fellow designers, the staff, and especially the members for believing in me and supporting me along the way. I was truly inspired by so many of you. I wish you the best in the future. Im not going to say i'm surprised by this at all, and i'm not going to lie and say that i wasn't happy when i heard this. But I will give Richard credit where credit is due. He was brought into a tough situation (replacing Gaines) and made the best of it. He was/is very proud to have been a part of the Cavalier organization (read his facebook posts from the season) and seems very humbled in his "exit" statement. A very classy post from a class act guy. Moving on.... Who else besides me is going to be stalking the Cavies boards/twitter/website till we find out who the replacement is?...lol. IMO, they already have their "guy", or they wouldn't have been so quick to let Hinshaw go.
  9. I sat on the 45 yard line 27 rows up. Both corps' were amazing last night. But, BD's level of performance was at another level. I wouldve scored them at at a 99. There were crown parents in front of me o watched their faces. U could see as the performance went along they knew BD had won it. As a side note, they became exceptionally rude after the scores were announced. Screaming dci is ruining drum corps and BD is a joke. Needless to say not impressed.
  10. The biggest problem I thought was the musical book. If I could do any staff change I would start with there. I really enjoyed the ballad section (and yesterday at rehearsal, staff even said it was the most well received of the show) but thought the rest was not up to par with a cavalier show.
  11. Just got done watching final run through at beech grove...they were on fire. If its that's good tonight they'll break 90 for sure. Run through was better than last two nights.
  12. Quick question...which of the brass n visual judge is on the field? The analysis judge?
  13. I would've had.. BD Cadets Santa Clara Cavies Bluecoats Crown Phantom
  14. JJ has been scoring weird all season. I think we'll see different results the next two nights.
  15. Boston was a lot more dirty tonite. Sorry...its true. Good show...I think it comes across better on camera. Live I wasn't as impressed.
  16. I'm not sure if the corps as a whole is a victim of slotting. but....I think the drumline is falling victim to it. That is not a 7th place drumline. The guard was really solid tonight. I would've put the score around 90.25. Think they were scored low. Will be interesting to see what a different panel thinks tomorrow night.
  17. Personally, I think the Cavies staff knew that this would be a transition year. For starters they had 50% return rate going into the season. Im not sure Michael Gaines taking the season off was a planned thing or if it was logistics (good to give the guy some time off while the corps was introducing the new blood). Hopefully (please, please, please) he comes back next season with some brilliant show design. Everyone keeps saying the staff let the corps down. I don't agree with that. I think the only thing they are guilty of is underestimating a few other corps that are in front of them. I really think they thought this would be a 4th/5th place show, but didnt realize phantom/coats and scv would bring such quality designs this year. Is is their best show design...NO. But I do find it very entertaining and refreshing. While there are many great corps this summer, I do feel like there is also alot of regurgitated show designs/music. Both of which the Cavies are not.
  18. Im gonna say Allentown AND Finals as follows: BD Crown Cadets Phantom SCV Bluecoats Cavies Madison Boston BK Spirit Blue Stars Crossmen Glassmen Academy Colts Troopers Pacific Crest Surf Mandarins Cascades Pioneer
  19. FYI...Cavies guard beat Crossmen tonight with what you called a "dirty" performance (17.1 v 16.7). If you look at the recap Crossmen guard is outperforming their own guard book 8.3 substance v 8.4 achievement. Usually not a good thing when the second number is higher then the Content. And no offense, how can anyone accurately judge the corps from the 5 yard line? No need to feel disappointed for the Cavies ageouts, im sure they'll have alot more memories then where 2012 placed.
  20. Crazy, Crazy Recap: Cavies beat Crown in Percussion Cavies beat Cadets AND SCV in brass, didnt think i saw that one coming. Honestly of all the captions this would not be the one i would've thought.
  21. erie scores madison 86.9 blue stars 84.2 glassmen 80.7 academy 79.1 crest 76.65 troopers 75.95 pioneers 65.4
  22. WAY TO GO CAVIES!!!!! 2.1 point jump after a rehearsal day...anyone know if they added or changed anything?
  23. Really? Since when is different defined as an inferior product? It may not be your cookie cutter drum corps show, but i'll guarantee you that this show is every bit as demanding as Bostons. The members are in character from the moment they step on that field and are asked to carry that through the entire 15 minutes. They are just not marching dot to dot, they are truly performing. While I very much enjoy BAC this year and think they're doing an amazing job, I do think theirs is a show that I have seen many times over the years. Same with Phantom, again, amazing product/performance. But I feel like we've seen this show 3 out last 5 years from them. My favorites this year BK/BD/Cavies are my favorites because I havent seen this before. Because they are different then the rest. FYI...The "act of desperation" at the end of the Cavies show was in the original design. It was however, deliberate to save it for the end of the season. If you think the Cavies are desperate then what about?: SCV: using music of the night at the end of the show Madison: bringing back the rotating company front/malaguena etc...etc... Call it what you want but I consider these very smart moves by each corps to give the audience what they want. Come Finals Ill almost guarantee, just like last year, Madison/Cavies and Phantom will have 3 of the biggest crowd ovations.
