  1. wow. I guess you enver marched drum corps
  2. To me, its clearly 89 by a mile. But I guess to each his own. How strange
  3. The Boston Crusaders just made one like a week ago
  4. yup, their visual caption head. Forget her name now...
  5. From a sheerly musical content standpoint, i simply could not wrap my head around the Blue Devils show. There was just too much going on, and I could hardly ever find a melody or tonal center. It was difficult for me to listen to. Thats not to say the performance wasn't great SCV's bartok was nice if you like Bartok. However I find Bartok is also very difficult to listen to. There are exceptions, but its not generally material I would use for an entire drum corps show. Its not powerful/exciting enough in my opinion, at least not in its original form. And I'd say it stayed pretty true to the original until the last minute and a half, which was very exciting stuff! Thats all I can think of at the moment, though there is more I may chime in with later
  6. to think....if individuals as talented as those would have stayed at pioneer...
  7. Holy crap. very nice move for them! Things are starting to look VERY good for the Crossmen!
  8. Gave the DCI article a read. Nowhere did I see "Drum corps is no longer going to be a great life changing experience for kids." Therefore, I am not too concerned with any of this
  9. I will ALWAYS support the drum corps activity, and what it does for our youth. Thats all I have to say on said topic
  10. No love for Cavies 02?! I mean I see it has a nice number of votes....but no praise here. That brassline was FLAWLESS!!! Such a beautiful rich sound they hand....balance and blend was immaculate. Crown 09 gets my 2nd place vote just barely.
  11. I really enjoyed Phantoms very conceptual driven show...beautiful music as well. I'd love to see a similar idea from them next year with completely different music. Maybe something a little darker? I think the Blue Stars should stick with their darker/more mature show concepts as well. Man that show worked well for them Blue Knights...more of the same!
  12. Guard had them too. And yeah, I've seen quite a few pictures of the stars in pictures during that pose
  13. Wow....and they had a killer hornline this year
  14. I would love to see Madison play herbie hancock. And if not that...then just go with malaguena :)
  15. Didn't really get a chance to break out my decibel meter this year unfortunately....but from what I remember I'd have to say crowns opening and closing statements were pretty ear shattering. The Blue Stars also had that one gigantic sustain at the end of their opener...not sure how it faired in actual volume but certainly an impressive moment from the hornline. Surely someone else had one at some show
  16. From what I'm hearing there is far too much bass in a lot of the recordings. However, I think most of this falls on the corps. The key to a good recording starts at the source
