Hate the hint crap. Just wait and give us a full announcement. They think this will build suspense and interest, nope. It just pisses me off. Why? A) We will speculate, unless we are lucky we will probably have no idea what it's about. B) It would be so easy to change it. Example - Last year. Sorry to be feisty, but unless you are going to do what Madison did with a full announcement, just wait...

Oregon Crusaders to World Class
DrumManTx replied to BariDude's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Oregon is the strongest Open to have moved up in recent history, IMO. They had 2 really strong shows in 2010 and 2011, and a REALLY strong one last year. If anyone should make the move, it's them. -
My personal favorites: 1) Bluecoats 2) Vanguard 3) Blue Stars 4) Spirit 5) Pacific Crest

DCI and DCI Ambassadors - where are you?
DrumManTx replied to drumcorpsfever's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I could see this at state marching contests and Bands of America stuff, like Boo said, there are a butt load of competitions every week and it would be nearly impossible to cover all of them. I'm sure there probably are some at these kinds of contests already though. -
Would Drum Corps Perform Anime Music?

I think a few have done it, in the high school world, this show was pretty successful at it: -
It could, just not very likely.

Favorite unnoticed drum corps show nuances?

I concur, that's the only part I really enjoyed in it, that's why I didn't say the whole show. lol (Sorry, Spirit!) -

Spirit's 2009 Ballad. The song slips my mind, but I NEVER have heard or hear anyone talk about that show, like ever. It's kind of when they hit their low, but the ballad is freakin awesome, nice and loud. Great development. -
Richard Saucedo - Brass Arranger Michael Sharpio - Guard John Mapes and Ian Grom - Percussion Tim Fairbanks - Drill Fred Feeney - Program Coordinator That's quite a team. Lots of WGI experience with percussion, drill, and program coordinator. This is great news! http://www.bluestars.org/story.php?story_id=665

They are going to be a different corps. New unis and lots of staff leaving, but some of the rumored staff coming in is pretty amazing (all speculation at this point, but most of the time, this speculation is true, depending on the source). It is going to be a transition year. This could be good though, sometimes a revamped staff is needed. I have a feeling the returning members are going to have a fire in their eyes from now til next August. I don't think they'll stay out of finals. Unfortunately during the off season there are going to be many posts of how they are going to fall even further and such, they don't know that's going to happen! I don't either, everything is speculation unil they step off at their first contest next June. I think they are going to be a refreshed corps with a good new direction.

IF that's true, that's great! Hopefully they'll get someone just as good running the percussion and that's a great team like you said! I'll wait for an official announcement before I get too excited.

This makes me nervous. Hope they pick up some great staff.

Oregon Crusaders to World Class
DrumManTx replied to BariDude's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
There is no doubt competitively they could do it. BUT, they should make sure they are financially sound. They have been smart the last few years to do their little tour in Washington/Oregon, take 2 weeks off competitively, and then go to championships. This obvioulsy shows they know how to handle what money they have, and probably won't move up to World unless they are certain that it is a smart move. At least what I think.- 97 replies

It would be close.
-
It would be 2nd or 3rd. BD's execution alone would seal that.
-
I'd say: Bluecoats (I had them in 3rd...) Spirit Crossmen Pacific Crest

I decided about a week ago to audition for Troop, these are really exciting me. :)

Phantom Regiment Guard Staff 95, 96, and 97
DrumManTx replied to Will's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
All I know is after he left they took a PLUNGE, more so than the whole corps. 94 - 97 placements: 4,7,4,4 98 - 00 placements: 12,10,9 -
Ok, I heard this on the radio the other day, and I think it would be an AMAZING closer and would die to hear someone play it, a loud, park and park, true to the original arrangement. Colts use of "All By Myself" this year makes me think they could handle it, maybe something similar to their 94 show?
