  1. Bush has one member who has been driving down from Maine every weekend for several years now. Some years there were some Bostoners who would come down with her, but I know that the last 2 seasons she has done the drive on her own, again, EVERY weekend. And she will do the same this year as well. :) Want her to contact you? I'm sure she would enjoy some company.
  2. WE HAVE DONE IT! YOU HAVE DONE IT! We have reached our goal of raising $12,000! From the last email sent out this morning!
  3. Don't they publish the prelim scores as they calculate them? Any scores yet?
  4. What impresses me is that, at this early juncture, they have the discipline to maintain all of their holes throughout the entire production and not crowd them. I think that says a lot about how they are picking things up.
  5. There is actually a lot going on and there will be news coming out very soon.
  6. Yeah, so I'm thinking that this means that we are not leaving the party anytime soon. Thank you to the administration for getting 2012 off to a great start, and only 2 days after finals. Things are changing!!!
  7. Thank you! I really don't think anyone would believe us if we told the full story of where we really were at this year. But 2011 is over and onto 2012... and our first order of business was just posted in the NEWS section on www.bushwackers.org. The news will be posted in short order, but go read it now.
  8. Thank you John Gough! You did such an amazing job running the show. We are most certainly lucky to have you.
  9. Still time to get in. The event is this Friday evening. If you have questions or are interested, you can PM me. It's going to be a great night!
  10. A handful of new members came out last weekend and used this coupon. Can't wait to see what happens this weekend. Come on out and join us on our Ascent.
  11. 1) He would love to kill Surf. 2) This in not going to be some 80/20 thing. He has 100+ kids who won't make Cadets their first go around or ever, and this is a great way to continue to keep money flowing in. Also a great way to fill a spot mid summer. 3) Why do Open class, which doesn't have "long-term viability" when he can do this for a fraction of the cost?
  12. DCA and the corps that make it up, are all private organizations, not unlike the Boy Scouts of America, whom the Supreme Court said has the right to choose its members based on its own criteria. Cadets2 can choose to restrict the age to 22, although they said they might relax it to 23/24 which probably means that we might see some of those recent age-outs/locals/ringers/screamers/add-your-adjective-right-here as they see fit to complete their show.
  13. Does anyone know scores from yesterday's Quakertown show, or know where to find them? Thank you.
  14. You can check them out some more on Youtube if you search Bush Plate Line.
  15. Wait, were you the one with the mouthpiece and the vuvluela? It certainly gave it an interesting sound. :)
  16. Or you find people from all the major TX cities to start a corps and then you have a Texas circuit... and then you can get the shows televised on the new UT tv station. JK on that part... kind of. Your option might be to get a few corps started in the area and then you have competition of your peers and not have to worry about DCI shows.
  17. I hope not but there is a state of emergency. http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/06/24/br...sms_ss=facebook
  18. Ok, but by renaming the caption winds and not just brass, that is still them saying that they wish to add woodwinds on the field and calling all the field instruments, sans battery, winds, just like a Wind Ensemble, right?
  19. Look at the map in Post #97. The reason why the West Coast corps compete at DCI show is that THEY HAVE NO CHOICE! Aside from a couple close to one another in Texas, there are no more DCA, active or inactive, west of the Mississippi. They compete against each other at DCI shows or else they would never have a competition until semis. Look at the big hoopla that was going on a couple of months ago with... I forget which corps that was supposed to go out west and the 'Gades come out here. They compete at DCI shows because otherwise, they have no competitions. Not that I'm against dual shows. The more the merrier, more bang for the audience's buck. My real question is why does anyone actually think that any DCI corps, either class, would even WANT to join DCA? Smaller circuits are going to rise up and there will be smaller corps created. NJ used to have a nice little circuit that all the smaller corps participated in. If they want to stay DCA or join SDCA and get people to create small circuits, and then do mini tours of a couple of weeks, they are going to do that. I don't think DCA would object to more corps wanting to join, but I really don't see DCI corps wanting to come over.
  20. I'm probably quite behind in a response to this one, however, when they say the "top 7" they aren't looking to change the group year to year. These 7 directors are creating a consortium to be able to make an additional tour to raise additional money FOR THEMSELVES! Elsewhere in that whole email it said that they want DCI to change its structure, ie. get rid of middle management positions and make the central office leaner so that it doesn't need as much money to run itself, so that more money can go to the corps, READ those same top 7. Those top 7 corps are simply looking for ways to make more money to continue to function at the level they are at. They want DCI to go on a diet so they can gorge a bit more since it's expensive to go cross country, but they'll do it for the right buck. As for the education thing, I don't think they want to have more clinics. I think they are actually looking to get INTO local school music programs so that they can help support those programs, while using them as a direct feeder for the best talent. In the end, it is all about what is best for those "top 7" corps, so that THEY can continue to function. That being said, I think the whole enhanced educational component could be a good thing. Anything to draw attention to the programs to help keep them alive, unlike what is about to happen in NJ, is a good thing. And if those seven corps get something out of it for themselves, so be it. Call it a possible, POSSIBLE, healthy symbiotic relationship.
  21. I never marched a Junior Corps. Started right in with a Senior Corps last year and I'm in my 30's so just go for it. So where do you live? :)
  22. The coordination and administrative changes alone in Bush are so dramatically improved from last year to this, that coupled with an amazing book, Bush will be Top 5.
